Renewing wedding vows!

So, I'm thinking about renewing our wedding vows at WDW. In 2 years my husband and I will be married for 15 years. We never really had a honeymoon and since we "discovered" Disney and DVC a few years ago, it's really where we are both the happiest...so cliche' I know but true!

Anyway, wondering if anyone has any ideas or suggestions? I really haven't done any investigation yet, thought I'd tap the brains of the smartest people I knew first!

Not sure if I want all of the family or just want to keep it intimate with just the two of us (no kids for us). Plus, I'm banking points so that won't be an issue - looking at the October time frame as well. Literally, that's all I know now.

Thanks!

Congratulations!!

We did not renew our vows, but DH and I celebrated our 15th anniversary at BWV's sans children! We went down for a long weekend and did all sorts of grown-up fun! We had a wonderful dinner at Victoria & Albert's one night, on our actual anniversary we ate at the Yatchman and followed that with a Breathless Illuminations cruise and a bottle of Cristal (they were awesome about working with my DH!), we did the Backstage Magic Tour, the Segway Tour...fun, fun, fun! Our 20th is the September...wish we could do it again! Maybe for our 25th :)

This is a dream that I have had and have looked into just for fun. Since I am in CA, I called DLR's wedding information desk, and I will need to spend a minimum of $10,000 to renew my vows at the park! Yikes!

You can still make things special as the above poster suggested. But to actually be in a garden or park setting to exchange vows will require a big chunk of change, and therefore, guests.

But I'm curious to hear more options. Keep it coming!!

Congrats!

We got married at WDW 2 year ago and had an absolute blast! :)
If you would like to do a disney vow renewal you would have to go through Disney Fairy Tale Wedding services. They will tell you the options and how much it would cost depending on the type and venue. They also have some limitations on the vendors you're allowed to use.

Anyways, I suggest you go to http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com/ and also hop over to the disboard's own wedding forum http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

There are tons of information there. Including some DCL wedding/vow renewals...

Congrats again and have fun planning your renewals!
I told DH that I'd like to have a DFTW renewal again on our 20th, if not earlier... :lmao: He just shook his head...

Congrats on the renewals and how wonderful since its the place you two are so happy!!

I was at a vow renewal at the Poly and it was calm, beautiful and gorgeous!!

There are places near Resorts... such as courtyards at the beach Club where I have seen couples tie the knot.(or renew vows) with just a handful of people. My wife and I plan to do this on our 10 year anniversary in 2016. BCV was our 1st Home resort. BTW we got married in October... and Honeymooned at WDW. Great time of the year. Good luck!

Since this is more appropriate for our Wedding and Vow Renewal Board I am moving this thread over there for more input. Thanks everyone!

Thanks! I still can't believe it'll be 15 years! WOW! I love these ideas, especially the Illuminations cruise! That's awesome! What did you mean about working with your husband? I guess they don't typically allow you to bring alcohol on board?

I was just looking at the site and pricing, you're right - :scared1: I'm definitely going to have to do my research and price things out. The more I think about it, the more I keep leaning to finding things to make it special, rather than a big formal to-do. It is amazing though, I mean wouldn't it be every girls dream to pull up in Cinderella's Coach?
Congrats!

Thanks! I appreciate the links too, I'll check them out. I was just looking at the website so I'll hop over to the DIS forum next. I also thought about possibly do it in Vero Beach and just doing it on the beach...there are so many different options like you all have shared! Thanks so much!

I bet your Disney wedding was just a dream, how amazing!

Thanks! It really is the only place in the world that even just the THOUGHT of it, puts a permanent smile on my face and I get butterflies!

October weddings rock! Our actual anniversary date is 10/16! Unfortunately when we got married, we couldn't really afford a honeymoon so we went to Ocean City MD, again in October, and during a hurricane....so I'm really hoping to make this anniversary special.

Welcome and congratulations!!
We are renewing our vows next May and I have been back and forth about the cost of DFTW vow renewals.
The one with a $10,000 minimum is a 'Wishes' package and is designed to be an all singing, all dancing al-la-carte wedding/renewal. It has other restrictions too such as minimum amount of hotel nights booked, minimums on food and beverage purchase etc.
'Escape' wedding/renewals are designed to be smaller and more intimate and these events are packaged. Certain elements are included (venue, cake, some floral, music, champagne toast etc). There are certain upgrades you can add at extra cost. 'Escape' packages include a short cake and champagne reception but no meal or formal reception but you cna organize one yourself.
We ultimately decided to have our ceremony at the Swan and a meal at Citricos followed by a fireworks cruise on the Grand 1 (assuming we can book at the 180 day window). I will have far more 'control' of certain things (eg flowers, cake etc) and can still have photos taken around the Boardwalk and at the GF (I have booked Randy Chapman as photographer). It has worked out about $3000.00 cheaper than I would have paid for an Escape with a reception added.
Just another option for you to consider!!

I'm not sure if alcohol is normally allowed or not  my DH worked with the YC to have the bottle at the dock for us. He purchased it himself outside of DW. They may have just charged a corkage fee, but he saved lots of $ buying it himself and not on property. They had balloons on the boat and everything - they did not charge us for that. All very romantic

Hmmmm.....I love options! I might throw another wrench in the whole thing as my BFF is celebrating her 10 year on the same day as our 15 year. She got married on our 5 year anniversary (even had a little cake for my DH and I at the reception, so sweet). Anyway, I mentioned it to her, what I was thinking and she wants in too! So maybe it will be a dual celebration, in which case, I think I will go with nhmom's idea of special events instead of a big blow out that also blow's out the bank account:rotfl: So much to think about...so many options. In the middle of the night last night I woke up thinking... what about Disney in Hawaii..it should be open by then....:scared1: I obviously have issues:lmao:

Good to know...you're giving me so many ideas! :worship: Was it just you two on the boat or did you have to share it with everyone else?

Please, please praise is not necessary - lol!

It was just the two of us on the boat. I think it may hold up to 6?!

We were also there for our 10th anniversary. We had reservations at Alfredo's. My husband had FedEx'd our wedding photo to Sam's Club and had it put on a cake (with the icing the color of the dresses from our wedding party!). He brought it over earlier in the afternoon w/out me knowing. He had also arranged for the strolling musicians to come to our table and sing "That's Amore" where he WAS going to give me my anniversary band. Well...I had a panic attack just as the appetizers were being served and we had to leave. I had no idea what he had gone through to get all of this planned out. As we were heading back to the BW...with me in tears after seeing the cake, he gave me my ring under the lights in France, where I started crying even more!

What can I say...I married a romantic :cloud9:

We're planning on renewing our vows for our 20th anniversary next year (it was DH's idea!) Ours will be in April 2011. I really haven't started to plan with a planner yet, but I've been gathering ideas!

DH & I went together for the first time for our 15th anniversary and DH just loved it. He loved it so much we bought into DVC! I'm not complaining that is for sure! Now we get to go to Disney every year to celebrate our anniversary.

We're going for the Escape package for our VR. And I've booked a trip to Disney for DFTW's Open House on August 28th.

My goodness, you did marry quite the romatic! How sweet! Can I give you my DH's cell # and can you ask you DH to give him a call with some pointers :rotfl2:! Wow, you had such a romantic trip, you definitely made me realize I can just plan events, vs the big shabang.
