Hey All,
We experienced something this past weekend that I didn't know exactly how it would pan out and thought others here might be able to learn (and benefit) from our experience.
This past year, with money as it is, DH only got a So. Cal. Select annual pass. (He's not as crazy about being able to have access to the Park everyday like I am!)
We have been having some dark clouds in our world recently and on Saturday morning DH suggested going to the Park for a few hours to escape from it all and have some fun.
We then realized he was blocked out. Then we remembered that his pass expires in about 3 weeks. So, we took a chance on a theory and drove to the Park.
We went to Guest Services outside of the Park which was closed. It was about 4pm (I think?). We were told we could renew his AP at the ticket booth
teacher: first thing we learned!). He renewed his AP with the payment plan at the ticket booth. She handed him a new AP with his photo from the system. We then asked if, since he was renewing on that day, what would it cost to go in the Park. She said that since he was renewing, even though it was a blockout day, he could go in with an override ticket
for no additional cost. (
second thing we learned!)
When we finished the business of renewal, she printed a ticket that was similar in size to the ticket you get at the Mickey and Friends parking garage (much larger than a Park ticket) and gave that to DH along with his new AP.
She told him to give the CM at the gate the override ticket. It said Blockout Override on the top. DH gave that to the CM at the turnstile, who then asked for his AP. The CM slid the override pass through the system first, then DH's AP - and he was in for the day. We asked if he needed a park ticket for FPs, since his AP was not valid on that day.
The CM explained that his AP was now valid for the day as the system had been overridden and his AP was activated for the remainder of the day.
teacher: third thing we learned for the day!)
And that was that. So. Cal. AP in the Park on a blockout Saturday in July.
Just thought I'd share,

Hope your clouds lifted.
A little Disney escape helps, even if just for the moment.
