Renewing Annual Pass by Mail & MYW ticket?

This was our first year as annual pass holders. We probably won't be in Orlando at the time of renewal so we will need to do it by mail. I have seen where other posters have applied unused tickets toward the purchase of an annual pass. Can you do this with a renewal? Can you do this by mail? or over the phone?

People who are applying the value of an unused ticket towards the purchase of an AP are doing a ticket upgrade. Ticket upgrades must be done in person.

You CAN use a MYW pass to renew your AP but you have to do it in person as well. See CF's Ticket Sticky (post #7) on the TPAS board.

You have up to 30 days to do a renewal. If you won't be in WDW within 30 days you might be better off just buying a new AP rather than renewing.

We had two two day MYW tickets we forgot to have taken off keys to the world keys last September, we used our APs during the trip. I just remembered about them a couple of weeks ago! I called Disney and got extremely lucky. The first call I was told it may or may not be fixed, but it would have to be in person at Guest Services. I called back, explained my situation to someone else and they gave me a different number to call. I called that number ( sorry, I don't still have it) and got the best CM ever! She found our tickets from our reservation number and let me combine the two of them towards a 8 day hopper ticket! I was charged the difference which was around $3.00. She had the ticket mailed to me and I received it last week. It never hurts to call and ask and if you don't like that answer, call back and ask again- you never know it worked for me. Good luck.
