Renewing an AP?

I know you can apply tickets purchased for a current trip toward the purchase of an AP, but are you able to do that to for renewing an AP?

If you call WDW Ticketing Guest Relations,
they can set up an AP renewal based on trading in currently-valid tickets.

Just be aware that the your renewal will be the date of your current AP, not the day you started to use the new tickets.
