Backstory: My wife turned 50 as did one her best friends. They said they wanted to celebrate their 50th birthdays together in Disney World. Both named Virginia, both went to UNC Chapel Hill. The other Virginia's husband is a pastor at our church and good friend. Inspired by this - http://thedisneyblog.com/2016/09/21...ash-mountain-photos-prove/?platform=hootsuite, I came up with the plan to renew our vows on Splash Mountain. My wife agreed (probably not thinking I would actually go through it). When we be in Disney World with an ordained pastor on Splash Mountain again?
The plan and the day: We did the Christmas party Dec. 1st. My pastor friend and I had made a bunch of plans to make the day a celebration. First up was a birthday cake as a surprise
Thanks to the cake thread for helping make this an easy decision. The cake was apparently really good - I don't like chocolate and this was a rich chocolate cake that lasted for the entire 4 days (who doesn't like cake for breakfast?). Next up was custom t-shirts. The other Virginia was wanting a Christmas party shirt, and I intentionally was egging her on earlier in the day at the pool.
Here is how they looked from the rear
The shirts were a huge hit. The other Virginia loved them and we took so many pictures as a foursome and couples in them.
The actual event: We entered the park right at 4. Mitch and I used our first fast pass on Big Thunder. Mitch confirmed we were actually doing this and prepared the ceremony on his phone. We met the women at Splash at 5, for our second fast pass. No line in fast pass. I mentioned to the girl queuing the ride we were renewing our vows and we got our own log. So here is the video of the actual renewal (I am just a little excited) - click on the image to launch the video.

After the ride, we were escorted to the photo area were we were given a free photo of our renewal picture.
Here is the ring I gave my wife - she had found an emerald ring on Etsy she like and had dropped some rather strong hints on this one as the one.
Aftermath: Folks were rather amazed we did this; it was rather corny but fun and part of an overall celebration. My friend Mitch wondered if he and his wife could offer his services for free annual passes and fast passes
. It was great and that my wife would go along with it was really cool. So, bucket list item Check.
