Renew Deluxe AP now or wait?

Question on the best way to handle APs for our upcoming trip at the end of May....

Our trips are for 10 days, so we buy the deluxe APs. We activated our APs on 5/31/14 and our next day back will be 5/31/15. We are DVC owners, so got them with a discount last year. With rumors of an impending ticket price before we go back, would it be best for us to go ahead and buy some new APs now with our DVC discount (albeit SMALL discount) or should we wait until we go back and renew then with the renewal rate?

The rumor is that the increase will be small in February, but we have no idea how this will impact annual pass prices. We are hoping for them to be small increases as well, but who knows?

But on the deluxe passes, you may be better off buying now since the renewal discount is the same as the DVC discount on that level of pass or at least it was when our passes expired in October. They have been offering a higher discount on premium pass renewals though, so if you are considering stepping up to premium, then it's really a wild card.

You can only renew 40 days prior to your pass expiring, unless those rules recently changed. Also, last year the premium renewal discount was upped to $60.

Yes, but they can buy a voucher for a new annual pass and at the Deluxe level, the DVC and Renewal discounts are the same, so at that level it makes sense to buy the vouchers and redeem them when the others expire, as I said with the premium level, the discount is higher, so it might make sense to wait if they want to step up to premium.

Is there any way to order ahead of time and get the DVC discount? The DVC member website just mentions showing your ID at the gate to get the discount...

I would try calling member services and asking, they should be able to direct you to the correct place.
