RENDEZVOUS AT THE FORT - The Fort Wilderness DISMeet Trip Report October 2020

It was fun getting out and about this morning followed up by a little puzzle time. Although the puzzle we're working on is only 500 pieces, they are all so narrow that it's difficult to match up and find where they should go.

Today's activity was to go over to Beach Club and eat lunch at Beaches & Cream and ride the Skliner (actually we rode first then ate).

I was surprised how pleasant the Skyliner ride was. We drove to Beach Club and then walked to the Epcot International Gateway to start there. Very few people were getting on there at 11am (longer line to get into Epcot). It's a beautiful station at Epcot.

Off we go!

This is looking to the left back behind France at the new area they are building for the Ratatouille ride.

The Skyliner Cast Members say, "Have a great flight" as you load btw.

Here is flying over The Boardwalk parking lot.

Tower of Terror out in the distance.

Swolphin and the new one out there in the distance.

Approaching the turn station:

Now for the long run down to Riviera.

20201014_111525.jpg

Passing behind Italy.

20201014_111710.jpg

There was a nice breeze blowing through the car with vents on 3 sides (not the door side). They are spacious inside. The car we rode first in the past pictures had no character design/scrim on the windows so the pictures are pretty decent (a little bit of internal reflection).

Let's roll to the next post.

How would you like to pay for DVC and then have a very long line to stand in to ride the Skyliner? Check out how far back the line goes at the Riviera station.

Flying over a portion of Caribbean Beach Resort.

20201014_112130.jpg

Approaching the CBR station.

20201014_112238.jpg

Based on time we planned to just ride from Epcot to Studios and back with a transfer at CBR (no going back and forth to Pop). There was a line of CBR riders waiting to board but transfers coming off the Epcot line (us) would walk inside the station to the Studios line and board directly (no wait).

20201014_112528.jpg

Off we go into the wild blue yonder!

Making our approach to Studios:

Closer, closer ......

Coming in for our approach:

Wheels down .....

20201014_112913.jpg

and TOUCHdown. Here is where we landed.

20201014_113147.jpg

It took about 20 minutes of ride time to go from Epcot Intl Gateway to Studios. The lift from CBR to Studios was also in a car with no window scrim. We rode scrim cars back to CBR and Epcot and while they don't impair the view to the naked eye much, the camera gets fooled so I won't post those.

Ride back to Epcot with me, won't you?

The Skyliner station at Studios is themed to fit its setting pretty well.

A view of the line from Studios looking back towards CBR.

20201014_113347.jpg

No waiting at Studios to board. I looked out to the right at the new Studios parking toll booth (no scrim on the door glass).

20201014_113701.jpg

Getting into the CBR station you have to get off completely and join the end of the CBR line to head to Epcot.

20201014_114043.jpg

CBR is a big station since it's a transfer point and it's where the gondolas are stored when not in use.

20201014_114059.jpg

Here's a view of the Skyliner running down to Pop/AoA while I'm in the queue.

20201014_114307.jpg

Reminiscent of an old train station, there is a central clock and signage to direct you to your destination.

20201014_114601.jpg

As I said the cars are spacious and nobody had to ride with strangers.

20201014_114959.jpg

The Skyliner technology is basically what my family called the Sky Buckets that were in the Magic Kingdom decades ago with one end in Fantasyland and the other end in Tomorrowland (open gondolas though).

Back at Epcot. All that fresh air and looking around made me hungry. Let's go to lunch!

Ed

Lunch was at Beaches & Cream at The Beach Club. Our family had eaten there once and it has since been expanded. It sits just outside Stormalong Bay.

Besides the main menu, I'll show the milkshakes and sundaes menu too.

So I got the Reuben sandwich:

DW got the Chicken sandwich:

It was all good. One thing about covid dining at Disney is that there is no salt/pepper on the tables, no hot sauce, no sugar packets or anything of that nature on your table. So when my sandwich came with fries, I HAD to ask for some hot sauce. And they brought me two of these:

20201014_130216.jpg

They contained one-eighth of a fluid ounce. Each. I made due with them - we all have to make sacrifices during these times.

Okay post these updates now and cruise on the bike maybe? :confused3

Arc, we're good for Geyser Point tonight. Let us know when you're ready.

Ed

Let me know when you are going to Geyser Point. We have and ADR and Mario and Enzo's for 6, but should be back by 8.

A little while ago Teamubr and family left their site for dinner and then not two minutes later the turkey gang showed up and trashed the place. (well maybe not trashed but were looking for bugs to eat)

I shooed them away and went back to my site next to Teamubr's but I expected they had revenge on their teeny tiny little minds. And you knew it was going to happen ....

I said to him in a low voice, "Dude, don't even THINK it. Just keep on' walkin'" in my tough guy voice (because a man's campsite is HIS castle at Fort Wilderness).

20201014_173449.jpg

And he looked at me and we locked eyes - it was a staredown. But he blinked first and headed for a way out.

20201014_173829.jpg

DW and @garneska watched him slip out with his head down in shame.

20201014_173623.jpg

"And take the REST of your gang with ya. I see 'em back there in the woods".

So they slunk out, knowing they'd been nabbed, and looked for another easy patsy.

20201014_173735.jpg

20201014_173751.jpg

Last I saw them they tossing the place behind the yellow truck up the street. @garneska tracked them at least that far.

Along with the squirrels, it's a "Turkey's World" and the rest of us are just living in it.

Girls are distance learning this week so they are doing homework.

Highlight of day at AK was in the jungle trek. The tiger was hiding in the back due to the heat and wouldn't come out. Somebody came in front of window and had a service dog. That tiger burned a trail to the window.

I always feed the turkeys peanuts from my hand. They take the peanuts very nicely. Last trip Oct,Nov, Missy somehow hit the door & out she went, almost had her a turkey. We were in the middle loop 900. I could just see the turkey police coming after her & taking us both to the jail house. Keep the great pictures & fun coming, when you have time.

Over in 2100 loop, the full right behind us is a setup using milk jugs with vinyl Disney characters on it.
Closer pic of it in two shots.

The funny thing to me is several of us here have Halloween decorations out. However, all the carts keep stopping in front of @PaHunter site gawking at his Volvo. From across road his Mickey lamp makes it to where all I can see are silhouettes. Each cart looks like a load of meerkat.

That is the size they use to pack in the MRE's for the Army.
