Hi, I just returned from a stay at the Rennaissance World Gate (got the reservation on Priceline for $35/ night). For the price that I paid I was very satisfied with this hotel. The room was a fairly decent size with 2 dbl beds, a desk, 2 straight back chairs, a large closet, more than ample drawer space, an entertainment center with a built in fridge and a small coffee maker, iron and ironing board. The bathroom was quite small, the sink area was nice sized and the garden tub was nice but there is very little standing room in the bathroom. Overall I was pretty satisfied with the cleanliness of the room except for the carpet which was quite dirty - not visibly, but it was quite visible on my son's feet after he spent an hour walking barefoot in the room. I should also mention that I had a first floor smoking room near the pool - it seems that hotel rooms near the pool usually have dirty carpeting since people are often times still dripping wet when they return to their rooms. The pool was not large by any means but it was a nice free form shape and usually we were the only ones in it. The hotel was not crowded at all - I only saw about 20 - 30 other guests while we were there. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the pool, whirlpool and surrounding areas. I wear contact lenses so I always swim with goggles on and this was by far THE cleanest hotel pool that I have ever been in. In fact we transferred from the Renn. World Gate to AKL and the Renn. pool was far cleaner than AKL's. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The lobby area is nice - if the worn furniture had been replaced I might have called it somewhat fancy. We used the hotel's shuttle service twice - it doesn't have a very convenient schedule - it only runs twice in the morning - once to AK and once to Epcot and it picks up twice in the evening at Epcot. I really liked the shuttle because it had comfortable reclining seats, air and light panels like on an airplane and a few drop down movie screens - the driver played Disney movies. The shuttle ride to Epcot only took about 15 min and there were usually less than 10 people on board. I really enjoyed the comfortable ride back to the hotel - even though it has limited runs I thought it beat waiting in line for a Disney bus with a 50% chance of standing at park closing. Just in front of the hotel - about a 4-5 min walk was an IHOP restaurant and across the street are a small supermarket, a Ponderosa, and a few misc. stores. There are also a McDonald's, a Denny's, a Black Angus steakhouse, an Omelet house and a couple other restaurants nearby. On a side note - half of the hotel was closed down and under renovation - I discovered this when I went looking for the 2nd pool which by the way is not open for use. I believe it is the south tower that's currently closed. All in all I would definitely stay here again for a priceline price. Oh yeah - almost forgot - I am very picky about hotel bedding - usually I find something on the bed soiled and have to ask for clean linen...I was impressed with the cleanliness of all of the bedding - and the triple sheeting to boot!
