Do you think we should do Remy if we don't like more "exotic" meats? We eat beef, chicken, pork, and would try some seafood (shrimp, lobster, crab) but aren't huge seafood fans. Wouldn't be excited about lamb, quail, bison etc. Could we get our money's worth having more "simple" items?

IMHO, No. Stick to the MDR's and Palo.

Yes. Take a leap of faith.

They have Wagyu and Kobe beef. They have "poularde" (chicken)...

Explain to your server what you like vs what you don't like and they'll guide you. They might even give you a dish that is not on the menu.

I'm a picky eater and The two dinners I've had at Remy were the best meals of my life.

I am the opposite. I love seafood but don't always like beef, pork, or lamb. I loved everything I had, including a lamb carpaccio. You may be able to request less seafood or pick one of the menus that has less seafood. I don't remember it being heavily seafood. There may have been only one or two that had seafood. They also accommodate people with shellfish allergies, which means that they have substitutions for those dishes, which they may offer to you. I say go for it. I don't think you will regret it.

My BF has similar tastes with regard to meats, however he does not eat any seafood. We have eaten at Remy twice and he was always able to find enough on the menu for him. One visit they did not have any chicken, but they had pheasant and that was his adventurous meat of the year. He said it tasted like turkey. However, as limited as his taste is with regard to meats, he is quite adventurous with regard to anything else and would eat any vegetable.

My experience with Remy was that I actually liked things that I normally don't enjoy (fennel, scallops) as it is just prepared so well.

I would suggest to go and talk to them at the beginning of the cruise. Get someone explain the menu to you as the written menu is not very descriptive. Our servers always took great care to describe the dishes in detail and from that you would be able to make a more informed decision. As long as you cancel your reservation by the night before there will be no charge.

And finally if you want to just enjoy the atmosphere, you could always go to the dessert experience. No fancy meats involved there! :goodvibes

^^^ This! Just as Flossboina says in her post. Go visit them and find out if it sounds right for you. It was a wonderful dinning experience. And if not dinner, who doesn't love dessert?

All very well said.

We find the whole experience wonderful.............from the champagne cocktail to start off, the cheese course and of course the wonderful dessert.

Always a great time!

I agree with everyone. I consider myself a pretty picky eater but Remy is our favorite restaurant on the planet. I'm not a big sea food fan but it's cooked so deliciously that even I like it lol. Eating at Remy is not just about the food, but about the atmosphere and the amazing service. Can't wait to eat dinner there in 17 days and brunch in 20!!!

I can't eat any seafood so the server suggested some changes to the American menu to remove all seafood. I remember having lamb (which I typically don't eat but it was delicious), beef, chicken, pork, and I can't recall what the other protein was. While I preferred some dishes to others, they were all great. On our first time at Remy's I remember having pigeon pie with fois gras (amazing dish), gnocchi (no meat) and a few other things. They can go exotic or not - it's all wonderful. I'm willing to try many different things which I wasn't when I was younger but several trips to Victoria & Albert's and similar places have taught me that food in the hands of a very talented chef is a totally different ballgame than the usual restaurant fare. I will ONLY eat mushrooms at V&As. In general, I hate them but I've had some amazing dishes there with mushrooms. So now unless it's something I'm allergic, I'm quite open to trying something new but if you're not, they can also accommodate.

I can also highly recommend the champagne pairing instead of wine pairing. I was in heaven by the end of dinner. I just love bubbles.

Absolutely. They are very accommodating, maybe even more so than any of the restaurants. Just let them know what your preferences are and what you don't like, they will offer substitutions. I have eaten at Remy 8 times now and it is always my favorite meal of the cruise, but I am an adventurous eater and will try anything they put in front of me. However, on one cruse, we had a friend with us on a very restrictive diet. She can only eat soft foods like purees etc. The chef prepared her meals similar to ours, but made them into textures she could eat. For example, when we had a piece of halibut, chef made her a halibut mousse, which was amazing despite how it sounds. The head chef came to check on her twice during dinner. She was initially nervous about even going because of her diet restrictions but was so impressed and touched that he cared enough to make certain that she was enjoying the food. We all got a little emotional about it and it was unforgettable. She loved everything they served.
