Remy Dinner - worth the cost?

We have a reservation at Remy, but I'm a pescatarian... I supposed I should tell them the moment I get on the ship?

Yes, it's a good idea to stop by Remy and make sure any restrictions or preferences are noted on your reservation. If you provide the information to your main dining room server, Remy should have access to it as well, but double-checking won't hurt.

Good? Yes.

Worth it? Arguably.

A true tasting menu experience? No.

Unlike most tasting menus at an in-land restaurant, the chef who designed the menu is *not* the one preparing it. For obvious reasons, he or she cannot be on every ship, and I believe is not on any ships. The food is still good. The preparation is still good. But, there's something that the meal lacks when the chef preparing the meal isn't the one who designed the meal. My wife and I did it once, and while we don't regret it, we won't do it again. We've done a few tasting menus, and it was on par with all of them - but not better than them.

My question, and apologies I may have asked this before, I love food almost all food but especially French food. So this is right up my alley. My husband not so much. He does not eat fish or seafood (or lamb). Would there be options for him? Thanks

Absolutely. I'm allergic to all seafood so both times our server recommended one of the menus (French the first time, American the second time) that had fewer seafood dishes and then substitutions for the seafood course(s) that fit the progression. I think one course was vegetarian and I had about one of every other protein (beef, chicken, lamb, pork). I'm not too fond of lamb either but it was amazing. However, if there's something he can't or won't eat, they can recommend a substitution that will work. I believe that they then modified the wine pairing to work with the substitution.

Can I piggy back a question? For Remy brunch, I've heard that there are add-ons for an upcharge. What are they and are the ad-on/pairings worth it?

I don't recall any upcharges to the brunch. I recall for the dinner there were upcharges available for white truffles and miyazaki beef. Brunch is a pre-set menu and doesn't have the menu choices that dinner does so perhaps they simply don't include any upcharged items. We'd already been there for dinner so they knew about my seafood allergy and automatically did a substitution of that course (or courses, I can't recall how many were seafood) for me.

Is it worth it is so subjective.

Was it the best meal I've ever had? Definitely not. Was it good? Yes.

I've had my ups and downs with Remy. I think the price is on par with the food. I don't find it quite "the experience" that some here do and find the meal a bit too dragged out and the service too much in some ways.

Our sever seemed to always be on top of us with some pomp and circumstance ordeal but had to run to somebody else for basic questions.

Their caviar selection is kind of meh (this probably sound super snobby but I love the stuff) for the kind of restaurant they claim to be. The distributor they use is great, but their specific choices weren't great (though, I must give credit they are really reasonably priced).

The food in general is hit and miss. There were some rough courses in there and then some were truly delicious.

I also happen to find the dress code really passé and does not add anything to the ambiance. It also makes it feel dated (and not in a good way).
