Thank god, our ADR is for 8pm!
I get the impression you aren't thrilled at the idea of seeing Remy!
We've eaten there a couple of times since the Remy thing started, and it definitely isn't like a character meal. Every hour or hour and a half, the Maitre d' circles the restaurant with the cart. He pauses briefly by each group of tables. Then he takes the dome off the cart and you can see Remy. They speak to each table
very briefly then they go on to the next group of tables. It isn't at all raucous or distracting like the character meals. Once they leave your table you aren't likely to notice them again. So if you have a rodent phobia then it might be a problem but if you just are wanting to enjoy your meal in peace without characters then I don't think Remy will interfere with that too much.
On the other hand, anyone who goes there expecting a Remy character meal will be very disappointed. If I was taking someone to lunch there who I thought was a Remy fan, I wouldn't mention seeing him at all - I'd let it be a surprise. If you are expecting lots of interaction with the character then I don't think you will be satisfied by the amount of time you interact with Remy. We were there for a little over an hour each time and spent a couple of minutes interacting with the Maitre d' and Remy.
Personally, I thought it was really cute and well done. The Maitre d' was funny and Remy was surprisingly believable (though no one would ever think he was a real rat - he looks just like the character from the movie). It was a nice extra touch to the restaurant, but certainly not the focus of the meal.
