Removing or adding days to a reservation question

I have a bounce back for next July booked at the Beach Club. This year we stayed at CSR and wanted to add an extra night because of flights and there were no rooms available with the bounce back to add to our existing reservation. Two years ago we stayed at POR and were able to successfully add 2 nights. I am wondering if I should go ahead and add an extra night or 2 in case we decide to shift things around at a later date? Will I be able to delete an extra night and keep my bounce back or am I going to be locked into those dates if I want to keep my offer? I would think it would be easier to delete days rather than add them, but I have never tried to delete days in the past.

Disney has made it tricky to take days off of a reservation. It seems they have to rebook the whole reservation, not just take the days off. So if the reservation isn't available for your shortened stay, they won't just delete the days off.

It was not a Bounce back, but Disney was recently able to take two days off a stay of mine at the CR. They did not have to re-book it. If they had needed to re-book, nothing would have been available. The entire resort is full the dates we are there. So it is possible. Whether or not they can do it for a bounce back, I'm not sure. We've never taken days off a bounce back.

I was able to modify my Bounceback (Took 1 day off) offer w/ no problems this evening, i'm thinking its hit or miss depending on the CM you speak to

It's not the Cast Member, it's the computer. Some dates will allow changes for discounted rates and other dates will not. Calling and speaking with a different Cast Member is not going to change the result.

The only time speaking to a different Cast Member matters is if that second one is in Guest Services. (Sometimes, a Guest Services Cast Member will work an overtime shift as a "normal" agent. In that instance, their elevated permissions still work. Instead of transferring you to someone working in Guest Services, she or he will just authorize the change. Of course, it has to be a change that falls in line with whatever guidelines they must follow.)

I have stayed on property on average more than once a year for the past 25 years. I have shaved days off of the reservation almost every time. I have done it 3 times in the past year. You can't do it online. And you will probably have to be transferred from your initial call to guest services.

I do this for a variety of reasons. My kids have been in school. The academic calendar is out, but the exam schedule isn't. So - I make the reservation not knowing the exact day we can arrive. When that is available, I change it. Flight scheduling has been another reason. Also - work schedules aren't always known a year in advance. One of my kids is a resident. She finds out her days off for a month at the beginning of that month. Kind of hard to long term plan.

I would call and try to add the dates and then take them off when things become clearer.

We find it easier to take a day or two off the bb's rather then add them. Just make sure you call the bb number listed on the brochure to do this.

It all depends on what is available when you try to make the change. You need to rebook, so adding days or removing them is not just adding or dropping, it is more involved. For folks who have had no issues it seems like it is no problem.

If I do decide to add a day, would you recommend sticking with managing my own reservation and staying in contact with the CM I am working with? I have usually transferred my reservation to my travel agent when I have gotten a Bounce Back offer and she has made changes for me. She has been successful with adding days in the past, but haven't tried removing days.

I totally agree with PPFD - I booked my original reservation with a fabulous CM that provided such wonderful information and was so completely knowledgeable. After booking the original reservation I realized our budget would allow for another night so I called to update my reservation. It took over 30 minutes to add 1 night and I never received the email I had requested. I was having DME issues as well and needed to talk with someone about that too - she was supposed to transfer me over and I was transferred to the automated survey line instead. After 4 days ( I had been busy), I called back to make sure everything was in order - only to find that the reservation had never been changed. So, I recommend calling back. At least get the same answer twice.

It has been years since I have used a TA, but I honestly believe that add or subtracting a day has nothing to do with who is doing the calling. It has everything to do with the inventory remaining for the block of nights you want. I had a BB and after making changes in regards to my traveling party I wanted to remove two nights from the weekend. I was able to do so, but had to change from Standard to Garden view, that was all that was remaining for those nights. I did so, it was still less expensive than keeping the weekend, and I really did not want to stay any longer than that, but it proved to me that there is no such thing as simply adding, subtracting or applying days or discounts. You may not see it becuase you keep your reservation number but you are booking a new reservation.

WHen you book, book what you know you can live with if you cannot make changes later on. If you need to change and you can, that is wonderful, but if you cannot you do not want to be resentful or even need to cancel altogether. There was a time when changes seemed to be so seamless, but with discounts more and more limited, it is not so easy any longer.

This is correct. It's all the same inventory, whether booked direct by a guest or via a travel agent.

(I probably should have mentioned it in my first post, but I used to work at the Disney Reservations Center.)

Thanks for the information! I may just keep it as is and try to add later if we decide to stay longer. On a side note, we have the hopper + pass because we are going to go to at least one waterpark. Do any of you know if this pass allows you to go from one WP to the other on the same day? I am setting aside an entire day for WPs and can see my girls asking to go to the other WP too. They love both of them.

WP are not like PHs. They are one entitlement per entry. You get the same number of days as your ticket - so a 4 day PH with WP gives you 4 park hoppers and 4 WP entitlements.

Right, so could I use 2 entitlements in one day?
