removed due to nosy family (you people seriously need to mind your own business) and lack of interest; I still love the DIS and all of you DISers, and am sorry my family ruined everything. Thank you for your advice and opinions!

Yea! Glad you started a PJ. I need all the details as your wedding is 4 months before mine.

Oh Kimmy, it's going to be a lovely wedding!! :goodvibes I love your dress and flowers! You're going to love having an intimate wedding like that, it's so much more personal and relaxed. When me & DH got married, it was just me, him, and my two teenaged sons...I wouldn't trade our small intimate wedding for a huge wedding any day!

Can't wait to meet you and future DH on the cruise!! I cracked up when I saw your DF's t-shirt...my son is the biggest bacon-lover I've ever seen, I need to get him that t-shirt.

Looking forward to seeing more in your PJ!

Kel

Thank you! I agree- small, intimate weddings are more personal relaxed and that's just what we wanted. We want everyone to be comfortable and just have fun! I'm looking forward to meeting you too! We'll have to get together and finish off all the extra wedding cake!

I looked at you wedding pics on the cruise meet thread- absolutely beautiful! Such a pretty setting, your dress is adorable, and that cake is just awesome! I must say- your wedding certainly doesn't look inexpensive- you did a great job and what a deal! I got that t-shirt for Ryand for valentines day- I decided to give him a mans version of a v-day gift: that shirt, 6 types of bacon flavored seasonings, bacon flavored chapstick, a bacon scented air freshener, and 6 bacon wrapped Omaha steaks- I call in a heart attack in a box, lol. Here's a link to the site where I got the shirt, the rest came from amazon:

Thanks Kimmy!! It was such a wonderful day, as I know yours is going to be! :goodvibes What are you going to do after the wedding? You mentioned wearing your bikini & flip-flops (too cute!) on Castaway Cay...are you going to change clothes and enjoy the beach for a while? I think I read somewhere you are going to wear your wedding dress to the Pirate's Party that night...that will be so much fun, and a festive end to your wedding day! I saw today on Etsy these leather belt things from "Pirate days", that have rings on them that lift up the dress, that might be a fun Pirate touch for your wedding dress during the party? Maybe they could "pretty it up" to go with your wedding dress. Here's a link to it... http://www.etsy.com/listing/45540200/silver-steampunk-renaissance-medieval?ref=sr_gallery_39&ga_search_query=wench+pirate+costumes&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_page=5&order=&includes[]=tags&includes[]=title

Don't you just love Etsy?

Love your jewelry too, your DF is so sweet!

Thanks for starting a PJ. There are not enough DCL reports. I am looking forward to more as I am getting married on the Dream on Oct. 2011.

Thanks for posting the flower information. I am going to check it out.

Congrats!!

Just want to say welcome and congratulations! How excited to get engaged in front of the castle!

Everything you have done so far is awesome. You can have an incredible wedding without spending a fortune. It's just what you put into it. Put in a lotta love, and it will be perfect. I know all about the starving student bit. I just finished my bachelor's and started my masters while doing the whole VR thing. I'm going to finish my master's in a few months and then may go back for a 2nd bachelor's!! :scared1: Crazy. I started off as a music ed major and then finished in business, and now kicking myself for not finishing music.

Anyway, on the cruise, it was just me, DH, and our kids, and it was amazing. I wouldn't trade it for the world. So happy that we were able to have it like that.

Good luck on your planning! LOVE the shirt you got for DF!! Great pick.

Hey Kimmy, I meant to tell you, we're going to WDW in October. Please let me know if there's something you need for your wedding or cruise! Do you want me to look for some Just Married/Happily Ever After buttons for you? Do you have any wedding pins (if you do the lanyards)

Congratulations on your engagement and starting a pj! DCL weddings are so beautiful and there aren't many on here, so I am excited to read about another one! You guys seem like a wonderful couple and I cannot wait to read more!

Your're welcome and happy to help! Congrats on you upcoming wedding! Do you have a PJ?

I have not started a PJ. I just do not think I would have enough time due to work, school and having teenagers.

Kimmy -

I am really sorry to hear how your mom is acting. I think it is foolish to think that you should have to have separate shower/receptions, especially if your mom has no reason not to like you future family!! Sometimes in the midst of planning a wedding, people forget whose wedding it really is!!!

Hang in and maybe your mom will see how foolish she is being and change her mind.

Oh Kimmy, I'm so sorry that your family is giving you a hard time...this isn't something you need, on top of all the other stress you have with classes, planning for a wedding, etc.

I believe the bottom line (regarding the reception) is that you're an adult, who will be married to the love-of-your life soon, which makes his family, your family. If your mom cannot accept that they need to be invited too, then you might consider having your own open house/reception at you and your husbands house, or the local park like you suggested. If you throw it yourself, YOU can decide who to invite. That is what me and DH had decided to do when we got married....but unfortunately, we got caught up in new jobs and moved before we got to carry out our plans.

Why, oh why, do parents have to be difficult at the worse times?! :headache:

As to the showers...since you have everything you need already, I think I'd just say something like "I'm sorry Mom, but this is the man I love, and his family is my family too. You are putting me in an incredibly awkward position, by alienating my future family, I'd rather not have a shower at all than hurt people I love". She really needs to realize that leaving them out now will set the tone for the rest of the marriage by spliting up between the two families. I'd still go ahead and let DF's family throw a shower for you, and let them invite your family...most people (especially moms), don't like to be "outdone", and maybe then your mom would change her mind about the whole "we aren't going to invite them" attitude. Plus it would give them a chance to meet and get to know each other.

Those are just some ideas anyway...it's so hard giving advise when you're not aware of all the family dynamics.

Anyway, about the buttons, I'll be more than happy to try to get you some, it's no problem!! I'll also keep my eye out for the cake serving sets!

You take care, and try not to stress too much. If all else fails, leave them ALL behind and just elope on the Disney Dream!! :goodvibes

You will have PLENTY of time on Castaway Cay!!

Also how can your mom act like that??? I am so sorry!!! I agree have an open house and if your mom doesn't come then her loss. Also I would see if your sister or someone can host your shower and invite everyone you want!

Yeaaaaaaah... You started a PJ. I'm happy to see more DCL PJs here.
I'm so sorry you're having to go through this drama with your mom though.
