Remove or Leave on Polish?

When you go for a new manicure or pedicure do you remove the old polish before you go or do you leave it and have the person doing the mani/pedi take it off? Would it make a difference if it is some place you go on a regular basis?

I always leave mine on. I was overdue for a pedicure awhile back (noticeable growth of my toenails and a huge gap of no polish). I didn;t have time to get in to get one, so I tried one night to remove the polish myself. That stuff is cemented on, so I waited until I had the time to get one and let them use acetone to get the polish off.

I always go to the same place too. I don't even trim my toenails. Whenever I do, I end up splittign them, cutting them too short, or just messing them up in general....so I've learned to just wait and let them do it (note, my toenails aren;t like hanging over my toes or anything). I usually go once a month or so.....

...and yes, I have even gone to another shop once (GASP!) with polish on from my previous/favorite shop. The visit to a new shop made me appreciate my favorite shop even more.

Really, they do not care.

I use to remove the polish on my toes before I went but once I was running late and didn't have time to remove it. She did it so much faster and didn't seem to mind so now I let her do it all the time. I go to the same person and I always tip her 20%.

I always remove the polish on my nails because it starts to chip and looks bad. I might get 10 days from a manicure but I get 4 weeks from a pedicure with just a touch-up if it chips.

I leave it on. I don't think I even have acetone in my house. I do a terrible job painting my toenails

I'll be leaving mine ON tomorrow when I get my pedicure. The thought of even walking out of the house with unpolished toes just makes me want to vomit!!

If it's still in good shape I go with it on. I won't leave the house with chipped off polish, so then I remove it myself.

My place charges an extra $5 if you leave it on. So I take it off. This is killing me being from NY where you could get a mani/pedi for $10. Here I am paying $35!

Yeah. They're going to use acetone/remover anyway to make sure that nothing is on your toenails to keep the polish from adhearing, so I just leave mine on and they take it off at the beginning of the process.

$10??? Where? Might be cheaper for me to drive there. J/K I pay $35 for a manicure/pedicure, and I always thought that was a really good price.

I leave the pedicure polish on, and let them remove it, if it's not too long when I get the next one. (Like others have said...they do it much faster.) I don't get manicures/pedicures on a regular basis...just when I've got an event coming up. Got one done right before our last vacation April 26. Meanwhile, I'll trim toenails myself (cannot stand long toenails).

That's why if I'm getting a manicure before a trip, I always get a really light color (or just clear) and bring polish and remover pads with me to either repair or just remove it. So I usually don't have any polish on fingernails when I go for my next manicure.

Have you tried gel nails? I think they call it the opi chipless manicure? It lasts 2-3 weeks (sometimes even longer) and the gel does not ruin your nails like acrylics when they are removed. My friends rave about it, so I'm going to try this before I leave on vacation in a month.
