Having a garage sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG the work that is involed is insane... I hate it... then I price things so low to get rid of them! UGH!!! but I remind myself the mouse is calling...

HI, Just wanted to give you some encouragement. I had a yard sale this past week-end and we ended up clearing $700.00 after we deducted the cost of the start up(signs,tape,ETC...)We could of even made more if we didn't close up at 11:00 both days. ( Husband had to go to work)
TODAY.....I am so excited because we go on vacation this Friday and now we have all the spending money we need.
We also put some of our nicer furniture items up on craigslist and got more money that way than from the Yard Sale and we made $770.00 from that also.
We also donated a ton of things to Helping Hands along with a living room set. We just refurnished our house.
I had to explain to my husband why I priced things so low...all he could see what we had paid for the items when it was new....You got your use out of the item and you no longer need it or it wouldn't be sitting in the garage so why not make $10.00 off of something you have no use for.
All my clothes was pretty much a dollar or under.
Hang in there next week you will be happy you did it

I'm with ya! Our whole neighborhood association is having a garage sale on August 11 and I signed up to participate. The association is paying for advertising and we're bound to have lot of bargain hunters combing the neighborhood, so I figured it would be a good time to get rid of some stuff. I've put aside a few things so far, but I really need to get busy and go through every room of the house. I need my boys to go through their stuff with me so I don't sell anything they really want to keep. I also have a pack rat husband who doesn't like to get rid of anything just in case he needs it someday. I think if you haven't used something in a year, you really don't need it!

Hang in there and good luck with your sale. Our proceeds will go toward Disney trips too!

I am feeling your pain! In between getting ready to move and getting this garage sale ready, I feel like I have gone nuts!

I am almost to the point where I want to just donate everything lol. I know after this weekend, I will be happy I followed through. Hang in there!

Thanks everyone! I put an ad on Craigslist today for the sale and have gotten several emails already and waiting on a sale from the ad... too funny!!! but hey its a sale... Yippie Skippy....

Seriously my goal is to sell $100 worth to make it worth my while. I am hoping to just move stuff out of the house!

I hope I am not making a mistake not doing the sale on Friday! just doing Saturday and Sunday so I dont have take Friday off of work!

My daughter is having a garage sale this weekend. They have gone through all the kids toys, and they got to choose what they did not really want anymore. She told the kids, they could take the money they made from their stuff and buy themselves something they really wanted. My grandson, told his mom "You are selling all of my memories!"

That is too cute! I do the same thing with my daughter she gets to keep the money from her things she sells... but getting her to part with even a cheep happy meal toy is like you asked her to give away and sell her favorite stuffed animal or her American Girl doll! last night my hubby and I agured with her for 25 mins about the easy bake oven that was in the basement in a box used ONCE... she wants its now...
