Remembering extinct foods

I have to add my favorite extinct beverage - Kool Aid's Great Bluedini. That was the sugary sweetest drink ever!!!

Sharkleberry Fin was outstanding as well. :thumbsup2

They still make Push-Ups. We have them in our Walmart. And the red/white/blue ones too. I think they are called Firecrackers.

They're also called Bomb Pops. I have very vivid memories of being 3 or so, sitting on the sidewalk outside our house in CA, eating a bomb pop right after the ice cream truck had pulled away. They still sell them in grocery stores around here. Same with Push-Ups.

Chupa-chups! I loved those (I once stayed in a hotel at the peak of the chupa-chups craze that had big bowls of them).

My brother and I were just talking about those 2 days ago on the long drive home from WDW. I think the discussion came about as a result of my bragging that I knew the Spanish word for "to suck" (chupar.) I assume that that's where they got the name "Chupa Chups."

Anhyone remember clear Tab and Pepsi?

Ah yes, Crystal Pepsi. While I consider myself to have an unhealthy love of all things Pepsi, I never could get the allure of that stuff. I bought some for the novelty factor, but that was it.

Oh, and does anyone remember Zeltzer Seltzer? It was one of the first flavored fizzy water drinks and came in a glass bottle, like Clearly Canadian did. LOVED that stuff. I put one of the ZS stickers on my boom box back in the day and it's still there (it's the radio that my parents now use in the barn, but still.)

What about Gatorade guum - that stuff was soo sour
I miss microwave french fries
tv dinners in aluminum trays that you baked in the oven
frozen bags of meat you boiled - think salisbury steak in a baggie
Pudding pops
smurf berry crunch
Towne Club - Michigan only
Ahhh... what my kids are missing!!!!

I miss Guacamole Doritos. I used to get them from the grocery store all the time but haven't found them in years.

I was always a Purplesaurus Rex fan :)

I don't know if we ever tried that one. I distinctly remember Sharkleberry Fin and Pink Swimmingo, but now that I've heard the description of what PR actually was, I SO want some!

What? I can't believe no one else has mentioned IDEAL BARS!!! These were sooo amazing!!:worship::worship: We need to campaign to get them back!!:goodvibes

Candy Dots - I think I've seen them at Cracker Barrel, not sure. Remember them. They were multi colored dots of candy attached to "receipt tape". You always would be eating a little bit of paper with every dot you bit off - not a bad way to get some extra fiber in your diet.

A.K.A. candy buttons :) They are still around and are all over the place here.

OMG! DS & I were in the convenience store near our house last night & guess what was in the freezer case?????? ORE-IDA MICROWAVE FRENCH FRIES!!!!!! I busted out laughing in the middle of the store and DS looked at me like I was a crazy person! I thought about buying some, but they were like $6.00 a box!

they are probably around somewhere, but I loved the taffy in the long thin strips. it was like three inches wide and 14 inches long and about a millimeter thick. wrapped in a wax paper. those were awesome....

These? Definitely one of my favorites.

Here in PA they still sell Five Alive and Tato skins. :)
And for the person that loved the Taco Bell doritos.

Doritos now makes Taco's at midnight or something like that flavored ones. IDK if they taste like the taco bell ones or not, cuz I never had either.

Just remembered another one-- Nabisco Bacon Thins crackers. OMG, they were SO good. My mom always bought them when we were having people over, those and Chicken in a Biskits. Thank goodness the latter is still around, but boy, do I miss the bacon crackers

ETA: But one I miss even more is Campbell's Select Three Cheese Mushroom Ravioli soup. I could eat that daily for lunch and be happy. I was really upset when they killed it off and went around pestering the managers of local supermarkets all over the area to find out if they could get it for me, but no joy. :sad1:

:thumbsup2 I bought some of this when we were in Banff this summer. This candy store had some awesome retro candies.

I also loved Bacon Thins. :goodvibes

I remember Bacon Thins! Also, Socialbles (I think that's what they were called...they were shaped like card suites...)

I'm not sure if they still sell those or not!
