Remember When....

I remember a parking lot full of coupon books minus their E-tickets (you couldn't give A B or C tickets away).

Trip to the Moon, America the Beautiful (something like that), 2K, the Mickey Mouse Review, the Skyway.

How about all of the animated "shadow boxes" along Main Street showing scenes from Lady and the Tramp?

Remember the good old Eastern Airlines "If You Had Wings" ride?

I remember that ride in 1977 and 1981, we are going again at Christmas time but just my dh and myself, no kids

POTC used to be a very popular ride and needed the ropes outside the entrance and they actually needed both sides to load boats. Even in late June it was at most a 10 minute wait.

That's what was happening in March of this year when I was there. They were crisscrossing with the ropes in the large open atrium and using both sides to load.

CoP was also very busy...that was nice to see again.

:teeth: :hyper: ::yes:: :wave2:

.... Being Smashed on Space Mountain b/c my Father was my seatbelt!

... Going go the Depths of the Ocean with Captain Nemo

... Being amazed at the Dandelion Seeds that actually came out at you on during the 3D movie

... Standing in line at the TTC to get to any different park (wait - that's not a good memory!)

... Thinking how Cool Michael Jackson's Captain EO was b/c it shot smoke into the audience!

I am getting so tickled reading the responses on this thread! The empty coupon book with no E-tickets---I remember that! My dad wouldn't let us get the book that had the best tickets. I think we just got the middle of the line one. I'm not sure.....I just know I didn't get to ride the Haunted Mansion as many times as I wanted to. The A tickets....not good for much....I think we came home with all of those.

The two Goofys story is a hoot! I couldn't stop laughing about that one! It's so funny to look back on all these things, and nice to know that others enjoy sharing their memories. Thanks, I needed that today!

Captain EO----How cool, but how weird! Sorry! My husband loved that one.

Captain Nemo---How I miss him and all those cheesy monsters under the 20,000 League lagoon!

Keep it coming! I'm really getting a kick out of this one! :wave2:

I ddn't really remember the Swan Boats. I always thought they were just at Disneyland. I remember watching the Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights and seeing Disneyland and dreaming one day I would go there, too! Well, it was WDW instead, but I loved it just the same.::yes::

The Swan Boats--they were my Mom's favorite.:p Also, the train that went around Fort Wilderness, that was cool.;) Also, I remember when Epcot was supposed to be something else other than it is now? A friend of mine was VERY dissappointed when it wasn't what he expected.

Thank you.. I thought it was competely in my imagination that you used to ride with another body in Space mountain!!! When did that change??? I can't even remember!! More recent do you remembers... the old Kodak show in HISTA... True colors.. I loved that!! The new one is okay.. but now as emotional... I also loved the old Airline attraction where Buzz is now... Delta Dreamflight.... I don't know why... it just made me smile.... FIgment of course... and the oranges at Horizons.... Well.. they can never erase our memories.......

I remember taking a skytram across the park to Tomorrow Land.

Or at least I think I remember it. :teeth:

I remember when you bought a combo meal at the Plaza Pavilion or Tomorrowland Terrace (which I also remember) you got either a packet of raisins with it or a little container of jello. And the waterfalls at the entrance to Tomorrowland. I was so disappointed on our last trip to find they were gone! I thought they were really pretty.

I'll tell you one thing I really miss... Walter Cronkite doing the narration on Space Ship Earth. I always say "Behold the Sistine Chapel" when we get to Michaelangelo at work. Just my own little tribute to another Walt who made life better...

I remember when they had the book of tickets to ride the rides! Each land had a different color!

Remember when Pooh used to be even more "Pooh sized" and had a hunny pot on his head. I also remember when the "Florida Orange" or "Sunkist" or whoever he was used to be out in adventureland and you could buy the plastic orange with orange juice inside. AND...remember when you made your Epcot dining reservations by talking to that person on the monitor thingies??

I remember my sister and I going through the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse like five times in a row because we had 'A' (or maybe 'B') tickets left and we refused to leave a single one unused!

I also remember being in a virtually EMPTY MK as we were able to get in early (on property). We rode Space Mountain three times before we saw anyone else; same with HM.

But then I'm young enough to have been there as a kid "in the day" and old enough to be taking my kids now.

Remember when you had to BUY a transportation ticket to ride Disney transportation.

And (if you stayed on property) you actually had to show your resort id to board WDW transportation.

Does anyone remember the tickets AFTER the books of A, B, C, D, E tickets? I think it was just one ticket that allowed you to ride everything. I have a vague memory of pinning it to my shirt with a character pin. My first trip was in '76, and I definitely remember the coupon books from then; but I think I remember these tickets from either the late 70's or early 80's.

I remember those tickets. We too had them pinned to our shirts with character pins! (Great merchandising!) We had them in '81.

If you had wings, you could do many things. You could widen your world, if you had wings

Chorus: If you had wings, if you had wings, if you had wings, had wings, had wings, had wings, had wings

You could fly to a plaza, where the people play At the Mexican fiesta, in the land of ole

Chorus

You could fly to Bermuda, like a flying fish Have a ball on a cruise ship, or catch fish if you wish Chorus

Wanna buy a sombrero, made of real fine straw? How about a nice handbag, for pretty mama?

Chorus

You could follow a tradewind, down to Old San Juan And explore an old fortress, before traveling on

Chorus

You could flitter and flutter, to the isle of springs To that emerald green garden, and do wonderful things

Chorus

You could fly with flamingos, to that old French town Go on regale New Orleans, wear the carnival crown

Chorus

You do have wings, you can do all these things, You can widen your world, for you have wings

For you have wings, For you have wings For you have wings, have wings, have wings, have wings, have wings
