Let's have a little fun with this. Irony and sarcasm is acceptable.

Remember when...You could make your kids behave by giving them "the look"?

... a Quarter Pounder really weighed 1/4 lb?

....you could fit more than two suitcases in your trunk and still have room for souvenirs?

I can actually still give "the look" to my 18 yr old and have it work....lol

Here goes for me :)

Remember when - you could play all day under the sprinkler on a hot summers day - without worrying about wasting water
............ kids could play away from the house all day, without parents knowing exactly where they are - with out worry or fear for their saftey
............ teenagers pants fit them - not sagging down showing their underdacks
............ kids/teenagers did't have mobile phones and they took part in actual conversations

Lastly remember when - you were a kid and didn't have to worry about bills, money, work, everyday hassles... now THAT was the life :)

Remember when floppy disks really were? Remember floppy disks at all?

Remember getting a blister from dialing the phone a lot?

Remember adjusting the rabbit ears?

Remember when there was only one radio in the house, and the parents exercised total control over it?

Remember the high collared dresses with the big industrial zipper down the front? (Gentlemen, remember fantasizing about pulling it down?) :rolleyes1

Remember when parents could tell their children "No" and not feel obligated to explain why?

Remember when MTV used to play music videos and you would wait all day for them to play your favorite video. Or remember when you would listen to the radio all day just waiting for them to play songs you like so you can record them on a cassette tape. If you had a good friend you might make a special mix tape for them. Or remember when you wanted to go to a movie everyone would pool their money so one kid could buy a ticket and he would open the fire exit door so everyone else could get in.

I totally remember recording stuff off the radio!

Remember when...you used to be so excited you see your favorite music video on MTV

Drinking out of the hose tasted so good

Parents were not expected to play with and entertain kids (I spent my whole childhood wandering around In the woods)

People did not drive SUV's

Remember playing outside after supper until way after dark?
Remember great Saturday morning cartoons?
Remember School House Rock?

TGIF line up

Please be kind. Rewind.

Flipping a tape over to keep listening to music.

The only thing a computer was good for was to play games.

Dewey decimal system

Mom made dinner. You either ate it or starved.

Walking down the road to see if a friend wanted to play. No calling or texting.

Phones with cords and no caller ID.

No google.

The good old days.

OH! And can I add... Remember when.... the characters at disney walked around aimlessly and you could just go up for a hug, a pic (from a camera you stuck a roll of film in) and an autograph. Easy Peasy.

The ting ting bee bop sound of your computer connecting to the internet?

$5.00 got you more than a gallon?

Dinosaurs on TGIF? Or Urkel going to Disney's newest resort, the wilderness lodge!

Dialing on a rotary phone? Hearing a busy signal?

Renting a movie!!!

Barbie wore real clothes...

Remember when....

You adjusted your skates onto your sneakers with a key?

We walked home from school for lunch? And then walked back for the afternoon?

Getting McDonald's or other fast food was a special treat instead of a regular occurrence?

All the kids in the neighborhood would get together to play kick ball?

The knobs would break & you had to change the TV channels with pliers?

Holding down the record player arm to keep it from skipping?

Getting up off the couch to go to the TV to change the channel.

Having 4 main channels to chose from to watch TV (NBC, CBS, ABC, and I can't remember what FOX was.)

When the bike was your method of transportation instead of something to do on the bike trail. It was my freedom as a child.

Release the Belgium started with all neighborhood kids as soon as it got dark until 11 pm.

High schools had a designated STUDENT smoking area. (See, not all change is bad)

My kids can still walk home for lunch (dd12 is going out for pizza today with friends, and they prefer to stay in rather than coming home for the hour). My 3 girls won't touch fast food, because we had it so infrequently that they didn't develop a taste for it (wish I could get away with a McDonald's/Burger King/Wendy's night). The boys get burgers around once a month with DH coming home from games.

remember when:
college was semi-affordable?
Garage bands ruled? honestly, great memories
having a laundry line was the norm ? Man, I miss it
basements didn't have to be finished like the Taj Mahal ...but we still the cool place to hang out, garage attics too
going to the penny candy store
fireworks and burning leaves were allowed
and a biggie for me~
you could go to the gate at the airport to meet/say good-bye to family/friends...and wait to see their plane depart and if you were lucky, see them wave their actual paper ticket in the window to know what seat they were in.

::yes:: I used to have the small tv in my room set to MTV every day when I was a teen. I also recorded music and interviews onto a cassette from the radio and I still have those Duran Duran interviews on cassette from back then. Every now and then I'll pull them out and listen to them.

Remember when parents would let their kids go out on their own and walk to the park or even to elementary school and the authorities would not be called?

Remember when the movies were affordable? As a family of 3 we spend $50+ between the movie and snacks now. Albeit DH and DS are the ones that get the drinks and snacks. I skip it mostly b/c of the outrages prices.

Remember when you didn't have standardized tests in school?

Remember when there were no microwaves and you had to reheat food in the oven? And the only kind of boxed meal was a TV dinner you cooked in the oven (and was a treat)?

Remember when tv commercials didn't show a bra on a person, a tampon or pad, presciption medicines, or anything remotely sexual?
