Remember When Castle was a Cake?

OMG! The cake castle is one of my 11yr old dd's fondest memories of her first time to Disney World. She still talks about how she tried to taste the castle. Literally, she tried to taste the castle.

That is just too cute that I am actually laughing out loud!

I really thought the cake was a nice touch for the celebration, but on the other hand, if my only trip to WDW was when it was a cake (or TPed by Stitch), I think I might be disappointed.

We were there on our honeymoon and enjoyed it as well. I guess some people fear the different/unknown...

It was our families first trip to disney when the cake was like that and we liked it. Of course we like it as a castle better but the cake wasnt bad.

Didn't love the cake but thought Stich's day was great and the Castle looks beautiful now.

Me too. I didn't see Stitch's day live, just on Resort TV, but thought it was funny. And I LOVE the Castle now! But when I took my 2 best friends for a day trip to MK back in 1996, I kept apologizing for how the Castle looked. One of them had never been to WDW before, and I felt so sorry for her that it looked that way her first time. I think it was a clever idea and probably looked great on the drawing board, but I hated it in real life.

I'm glad to see so many posters liked it, though. I was so worried it had ruined people's trips!

It was in 1996 - 1997. They were celebrating 25 years of magic, since Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.

Did they do it more then once?

I thought it was later then that.

I am probably wrong.

We were there during transformation too. It was my dh's first time there, but I had been there before...we joked about the hideous pink thing where the castle belonged for quite a while!
We really like what they did to it this year though. Still a castle and beautiful!

I was also greatly disappointed when they messed with spaceship earth. Missed the way it was when I was a kid. Not crazy about the cake castle. Too much pink. But I ask of anyone out there who has seen the newly decorated castle this year how do you like it?

i like what you wrote but can't ever forget that cake castle. that was the year we got married at disney and that castle is in all our wedding pics. its not the cutest but it still was special.

I liked the cake look but was glad it was temporary. We were also there for Stitch's day and the Celebration look. They too are temporary but nice changes.

I was there then! And during the 50th celebration, so I guess i haven't seen the castle "normal" yet lol. It was cool, but i agree im glad it was temporary.

During my first and only visit to WDW the castle was a cake. I loved it!!
