OMG! I loved the Empress Lilly! My dad took me, my sister and the step-monster there for my 16th birthday. We had so much fun laughing that the waitress said to us "Y'all are having too much fun!"
What fond memories!

That was a great night!

"WHAT DID SHE SAY?"

Empress Lily-elegant? I don't quite remember it by that description. I remember it as the only place you could eat with Donald Duck in the late 80's. We still have the pictures.

The Empress Room was on the Empress Lily. It was painted with 14 carat gold paint and the food, service and ambiance was every bit as nice as Victoria and Alberts. Jackets were required for men. We used to eat there on our all inclusive plans.

The Empress Lily was always a favorite of ours! The entertainer in the Baton Rouge Lounge was Denny Zavett.

Who was the other entertainer. I can't remember his name! I think one of his names contained "John" in it. He went on to entertain at the PO. He started at the Poly years ago.

I remember now. John Charles. I think he went on to entertain on the cruise line too.

John Charles--that's the fellow I rember. I recall him saying that he married the hula dancer who used to entertain (with a 3-piece combo) at Papeette Bay Verandah over in the Poly.

i remember eating at the empress lilly way back when. it was on one of my first trips to WDW. my girlfriends family, who moved to florida from NY, took us there for dinner. i was quite excited by the time i got inside and i still remember that day as if it happened today. my first experience with dining at the world was a great one.

wasnt the area where the empress Lilly docked also know as Lake Buena Vista Village? i remembered after dinner taking a paddle boat out on the lake for a spin around the lake to work off some of that meal and we also did some shopping.

Dinner was elegant by my standards.....towels to cleanse your hands after meals, the sorbet that was mentioned, a cigar for the men and a rose for the ladies on the way out.....our meal lasted 3.5 hours! This was back in 1985. We were on some type of meal plan and ate like kings and queens! :earboy2:

We were on this same plan on our delayed honeymoon in June 1987. We were so green! I remember being embarrassed when I used the wrong fork for my salad and when the came to pick up the plate, they also took the fork I was SUPPOSED to use and brought me back a clean "dinner" fork. We had a great time playing rich grown-ups though! We are trying to arrange a stay at the Grand Floridian next year for our 20th anniversary. Can't wait!!!

It was first the Walt Disney World Villiage and later the Disney Villiage Marketplace.
