And how we were all worried about Y2K? What a joke that was!

Where were you Dec 31, 1999? I was working til midnight at a hospital as extra personnel just in case Y2K caused the world to end, lol!

I was working. I worked for a large software development company. We tested for almost a year prior to NYE. We only had two minor problems.

I dont remember where I was but I sure do remember the stockpile I had :rotfl2: That stuff lasted us for quite awhile..

I was in NC celebrating with the in-laws! :sunny:

Not all of us were worried, although the company I worked for put in a three million dollar natural gas fired generator "just in case". That generator wasn't in place until well into 2000 (long after Y2K was supposed to happen) and, once they got it working, I don't think it ever generated a useful watt of power. I noticed the other day that they finally turned the generator off and that it now sits silently as a testamony to knee jerk bureaucrats who worry about things that never happen.

To answer the original question, we were having a NYE party at our house and I was very tempted to sneak down to the basement at midnight and hit the main circuit breaker to kill the power to our house. Just to freak everyone out.

New Years Eve 1999 was not a good one here. I was mourning the loss of my mom who passed Dec 13 of that year.
On top of that I was 7 months pg so I had no energy even if I did want to go out partying.

I was still doing food service that evening and raced home right before midnight to be with DH. I do remember that I did print a bank statement as had been advised. Just in case Y2K did all of a sudden wipe out my account information.

I was in Gatlinburg TN and scheduled to leave that morning. Well, we had brought my persian cat with us to the cabin and when it was time to leave this cat decided she wasn't going. She found a small hole in the side of the jacuzzi and went in it and was in the WALLS of the house.

We had to fess up to the rental co. that we had a cat - they tore out the whole jacuzzi to GET the cat and she STILL wouldn't come out - so we had to find an available hotel to check into on NYE to wait for the cat to show up in the house. We gave the new renters (who were REALLY pissed b/c they had NO jacuzzi on NYE! )our phone at the motel (when we found one 6 hours later) and waited......

We were in Lexington, KY celebrating with my sister and BIL and nephews.

Thankfully we weren't home because our church was having a new year's eve service and my dh wanted to sneek downstairs and flip the main breaker at midnight. He was convinced everyone would think it was Y2K related (they probably would have).

I don't think the pastor would have found it funny though so I'm glad we were out of town.

I was sitting in the County Emergency Management Emergency Operations Center   When nothing happened, everyone that was at "my" agency's EOC left at 1 am but I had to stay "just in case" until 7 am

I was at a party with my family at my sisters house. I was 8 months pregnant, hoping to go into labor and have the first baby of 2000. He came 23 days too late. ;)

My butt was dragging! We'd had a large crowd for Christmas from out of state who managed to remain until after the new year. Of course they all wanted a big party to remember. All I could think about was getting in bed and closing the world out. Didn't happen! We partied like 1999!!! :rotfl:

I was working - at a bank going through the Y2K thing. It was only a "joke" because companies spent two or more years preparing for it. If they hadn't, it would have been more troublesome (though not disastrous) than it was.

were on the Outer Banks celebrating :cool1: We were there for 2 weeks.

I remember so many folks worried that we wouldn't be able to get enough gas to get home.

Yes, I do remember that over hyped, un-believable crazed media situation hyped we were all in. and NOTHING HAPPENED!!!!!!

And I was here in my home with my kids at the time.
