Hi everyone,
We had a great trip to Pensacola a couple weeks ago despite DD losing her license beforehand, so she had no "official government i.d."
to check into the airlines with.
So here's what happened to her at our local tiny airport in a town we have lived in for 30 years whe we checked in for our flights. We were asked specifically if we were local residents.
DD (l9 yo) presented numerous pieces of i.d. iincluding a school picture i.d., SS card, etc., but nothing was going to work for the agent. The NW agent said she would not deny DD boarding, but took extra security procedures with DD.
DD was asked to return her boarding passes (which we had printed at home) and was reissued new ones with "special codes" only known to the airlines. Her checked luggage was separtated from the rest of the family luggage and double checked. This took about 10min.
They we went thru the TSA security and DD received a special orange card from the first agent to hand to the scanners. He noted dd's name in his logbook. At this point, Dd was getting worried. Her backpack was throughly inspected and one TSA agent spent about 5 minutes scanning dd's body as well as her shoes. Finally we were done, whew! Glad to be done with that. Little bit of trauma for DD, as she is very shy.
Anyways, on the return trip from Pensacola, we approach the NW ticket agent with trepidation and wonder what's coming ahead for DD. NW agent looked at
dd's school i.d. and said nothing. Just gave us our boarding passes and we were done in a few minutes, go figure!. TSA agent also accepted her i.d. without a second glance and she had routine scanning same as the rest of us.
I am not complaining about the extra security procedures dd went thru, but just wanted to let everyone know what our experience was.
BTW, dd's license was found at the movie theater the day after we left for our trip!
