Hubby took a position in D-town Lexington, we have to be there within 30 days so we are just going to start off renting, then look for a house in a couple years. We are looking at Anderson Communities at the cottages. How are the schools in Woodford County? Also looking for a great Dr. (for myself and hubby) and Pediatric Dr. (son). Any other advice would be great!

Versailles is beautiful! Not many cities in American can claim a real castle! :goodvibes

I'm in Lexington and it's a great town. I have spent quite a bit of time in Versailles but I have never lived there. I have heard that the schools are quite good but I can't speak from experience.

I have the best Pediatrician in the world - Pediatric and Adolescent Associates in Lexington. Very popular practice, great docs, Saturday and emergency appts, etc.

I'd be glad I was moving in 30 days because that puts you very close to spring and The Bluegrass is breathtaking when the season changes!

Thanks a bunch! That was one of the places the other was over by Jacobson's Park?? Hubby will be working in Lexington on Mercer Street. I have family in Louisville, KY. Which do you think would be the best location for him to get to work and for me to hit 64 to get to Louisville?? Seems like the schools over that away are also decent (according to greatschools.com)

The Jacobson Park area is very nice! And the schools are great, too (my DD went to middle and high school in that area). Versailles is closer to Louisville but that area of Lexington has easy access to downtown (it's a straight shot down Richmond Road) and the Interstate (just go the other direction on Richmond Road). Property taxes are higher in Lexington, but I just think you can't beat the convenience. And with little ones, you'd love having Jacobson Park nearby! It's very popular and has a great playground and a nice lake with paddleboats. In the summer they do "Free Friday Flicks" - they play a family-oriented movie by the lake and you bring your blankets and food and have a great night with the kids :goodvibes

I am so jealous. I would move there in a heartbeat. I went to school at UK and my best friend lived in Versailles. I still visit her there every year and it's beautiful. Such a nice peaceful way of life. Good luck in your search and enjoy it!
