relief for a broken pinkie toe...

I banged my second toe last night on a wooden step outside. I don't even know how...all I know is it hurt like .... I think I'm going to lose the nail but I haven't looked at it yet this morning.

Tennis shoes and advil are my friends today...We leave for Disney in a month...I better be okay by then...;)

I broke my pinky toe 10 yrs ago - on my first day of maternity leave. The baby hadn't come yet, but I was nesting like crazy and decided that even though it was 95 degrees outside, I HAD to clean the house. My belly was so huge that I couldn't see where I was going and I walked into the leg of a chair as I was cleaning. I called the dr and they said all I could do was tape it and take Tylenol. Tylenol didn't do a thing for the pain, but I went into labor a few days later, so I kind of forgot about the toe pain at that point. :scared1:

Good luck! :goodvibes It sounds like you're doing all the right things already with ice, rest, and ibuprofin.

I broke my pinky toe about 12 years ago. I was walking out of the bathroom in the dark and I accidentally kicked the doorway. It hurt so bad! I was screaming in pain and my DH had to help me back to bed and get ice for it right away. I went to the doctor the next day but she didn't want to x-ray it since I was 7 months pregnant (hence the reason I was in the bathroom in the middle of the night!). She said it was most likely broken and she taped it up and sent me home. Because of the pregnancy, I couldn't have anything stronger than Tylenol so I just toughed it out. I took a pair of slippers to work and changed into them as soon as I got there. I must have been a sight waddling around pregnant in my slippers! It did eventually get better! By the way, the baby was a boy and he's now 11 years old and standing at the counter eating candy!:)

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who broke a toe while pregnant! :rotfl:

When taping, try and put a little bit of "cushioning" between little toe and its taped up buddy toe...I used squares of guaze so it would be straight (I personally think it does help it heal straighter - like a splint) but not too tight. The special boot they give you helped me too.

Broke mine a couple of years ago running in the house ( yeah, yeah I've told the kids not to do this). I hit the door jam with it. When I looked down the pinkie toe was pointing out to the side. .

Gosh....the same thing happened with me, walking quickly without wearing my glasses....into the door jam....pinky toe heading east instead of north :scared1:. Husband just looked at me and said "Candi, you idiot"....then took me to ER.....and played fetch and go for a few days.
