Stacie

Hey girl. It's me, the REST queen. Seems like you're not getting ANY!! :scared: Please take care of yourself!!!

Good luck on the job interview. :wizard: Are you going to still teach at the facility you're at now? (I'm hoping you're gonna say no to that question ;) )

Great job getting that run in, Amy!:cheer2:

Sending lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: your way...Hope you get the interview!:goodvibes

Hi Amy!!!

popcorn::

Wondering if you got a feel for how the interview went yesterday. I hope good!!!

Stacie

Happy Valentine's Day, Amy!

Did you get the interview? How did it go?

I have a question for you....A few months ago, I bought Winsor Pilates (sp?) on DVD and tried one of the workouts. Is the Pilates you teach similar to that? I don't know much about Pilates, but it seems like there are a few different methods. Any advice you can give would be much appreciated.:thumbsup2

Have a great day!

Hi, Amy. Hope you are feeling better and that your interview went well. I think they would be super lucky to have someone as dedicated and hardworking as you working for them.

Hope you have a good weekend.

Susan

Hi Amy

What'cha been up to? Spinning?? Teaching?? Interviewing?? Buying running skirts?? Maybe spilling a little coffee along the way??

...inquiring minds... :goodvibes:

A second post by Chris Gaines!

Hello everyone :)

Wow..another busy week. I'm still spinning and of course doing a bunch of yoga. The good news is that today I did my first official "speed" workout. For anyone interested (it is kinda' boring lol)...here's what it entails currently:

1/4 mile: Walk (15:00 mpm)
1/2 mile: Warm-up (10:54 mpm)
1/2 mile: Speed (8:41 mpm)
1/2 mile: Recovery jog (10:00 mpm)
1/2 mile: Speed (8:41 mpm)
1/2 mile: Recovery jog (10:00 mpm)
1/2 mile: Cool-Down (10:00 mpm to 11:00 mpm)
1/4 mile: Walk (15:00 mpm)

Total 3.5 mile run.

Over the course of the next few months the run will increase to a 5.5 mile speed run. Hopefully this will help develop my speed over the short distances so I can PR in a 5K :).

Other than that my shoulder/elbow issue is still hurting on and off. I've narrowed it down to the yoga practice...but since I have to teach the fusion class back to back on Thurs evening and Friday morning I don't know how to avoid the problem :(. I'm still working on that.

As for the interview this week....:sad2: To be perfectly honest I was really disappointed in the facility. While the fitness center itself is amazing...they have a "dumbed down" pilates practice. The people aren't properly trained and the pay is abysmal! They would pay me $10-$15 less per class than what I'm making currently. I've received certification through a prestigious, well accredited Pilates school in Manhattan and Boston...but they dismissed that and said it wasn't necessary. NOT COOL...poorly trained instructors lead to injured clients. I can't be a part of that :(. Anyway, that's the update on that job interview!

Beyond that I have to teach tomorrow morning and may try to get some more cardio into the mix. Sunday is my 6 Mile Run!

Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks for stopping by!

Chris Gaines :rotfl: ...As for the rest of my week...yes....I spilled coffee ALL OVER my car the other day and had a complete temper tantrum. I finally bought a running skirt and can't wait to see if I like it or not. Spinning totally ROCKS..what a great workout. Let's hope it helps me get quicker and stronger when I run! :thumbsup2

The Speed work looks very interesting!!!

I really hope you get the shoulder/elbow thing worked out... We don't want you to have to endure pain and suffering! :guilty:

Good for you for standing up for your beliefs. Too bad the whole job thing didn't work out, but it sounds like a place that would have made you miserable and just not a good fit for you. We have a few area fitness clubs around here if you would like to interview! :goodvibes I could use a personal pilates instructor! :upsidedow

So...are you going to model your skirt for us??? lol! jk! I have tried on a few, but can't seem to find any that work for me. Short, chubby legs and a short skirt...not a pretty picture! Maybe one day I can have cute running outfits! :goodvibes

Hope you have a great weekend and your 6 miler goes well! Thanks for all your support!!!

Stacie

Bummer about that other facility, but good for you for knowing your stuff! :thumbsup2 I hope you gave them a piece of your mind.

Love the speed training. That's pretty cool. It's pretty funny (to me) that your jog times are STILL faster than what I call my "runs". :rotfl: You're a complete rockstar, Amy. :worship:

Hope your shoulder feels better soon. I'm sure you'll figure out a way to get it all straightened up. :thumbsup2

(shudder) that picture freaks me out, Scott. Did you ever check this out? Chris Gaines Fictional Biography. Totally freaky. :scared:

Hi Kim and Stacie and...umm....Chris  . YES...that picture freaks me out too. And I'm sorry....but that whole deal was just plain CREEEEPY!!!!

Anywho....Kim...LOL....yeah 10 mpm isn't a jog for me either to be honest. Most of my long runs are slower than 10 mpm and a lot of my weekday runs are too for that matter. So that's a bit misleading. The funny thing is that in doing speedwork...when I slowed the treadmill down to about an 11 mpm (what I'd consider a better jog pace for me) it felt SOOOO slow LOL that I had to speed up a little..it was too much of a contrast! Now normally...that would not be the case. It's just the perception after running what I think is super fast (8:41). It's going to be tough for me to go much faster than that for a 5K...but that's the plan. I'd actually LOVE to get down to around an 8:20 mpm if not faster...but I'm just not sure I'm made to do that.

So I've taught my class this morning (LOVE this class...some of my clients in there are improving so quickly..makes me feel so good! :goodvibes ). And I'm getting ready to head out for a nice long walk. I was going to hit the FC for a bike workout but I've decided I want to be out in the SUN! :sunny: YES people...the sun is actually shining in NJ today. Woo HOO!!!! It's not warm...but sun sure feels good. I think I'm getting those winter blues so maybe the Vitamin D will help! :thumbsup2

Have a great weekend everyone :).

I'd actually LOVE to get down to around an 8:20 mpm if not faster...but I'm just not sure I'm made to do that.

I have faith in you and I'm sure you can do it! You can do whatever you put your mind too!!!

I bet you are a great pilates instructor!

Hope your run goes well tomorrow and enjoy that sunshine!!!

Stacie

Hi Amy

I wanted to stop by and say GREAT JOB with that speed workout! While I think you do a great job already with your times, I can understand the desire to push yourself further. Very cool to see you taking this step with full force, I have a feeling it will take that mpm down to where you want it to be. Good job buddy!

Good luck tomorrow with your long run. Bundle up and be safe out there. Still kind of odd to be doing 6-8 on Sundays after doing 12-14-16-18...dare I say that I really like those longer distances? *ducking*

You are a constant source of inspiration for me and have been since day one. Your weekly totals have made me want to push my 30 minute XT sessions to 45 or 60...and your wicked pilates workouts have made me become more aggressive with my own. Thanks for being you...setting a great example and encouraging all of us along our own paths.

Have a great weekend Amy

Hi Amy,
Sorry about the job disappointment but I guess it wasn't meant to be.Your clients I bet are happy that you will still be there.

Spinning is about the 2nd best thing to running isn't it? I love it. I have not done it in a while.Just make sure the classes you are taking has the real Johnny G spinning moves, it makes a difference. I have a friend who took and it was a totally made up way of spinning and as I was talking about hand positions, jumping, saddle etc... they had no idea what I meant. It is the best facial in the world with the sweat that flows during that class!!!!!!!

Awesome speed work.It should be a nice one today- for a while, for your 6 miles.

I got the book Marathoning for Mortals, it is great so far but not as motvating as you guys here.

Keep warm,
Linda

Linda: Yeah...we do the Johnny G real deal spinning! :thumbsup2 And yeah...wooo boy do I sweat in there!

Scott: Thanks for the support on the speed workout. I'm not sure how it'll shake out...but it's going to be interesting to watch :). Thanks for being there for me buddy! :goodvibes

Stacie: Thanks for all your support too...you're always so upbeat and put a smile on my face when I see your posts! :sunny:

Everyone else...Susan, Kim, Beth and Tracey. Thanks girls!!! :grouphug:
