Rejuvenate dried out markers

if its the one where the ink pad comes out you can put a few drops of water in it and sometimes that helps

I put the Crayola ones in a container of water. You will start to see bubbles, after about 30 seconds - 1 min I take the marker out of the water.

The black marker will be dark grey. It makes them last a little while longer.

I have a similar question - but it's in regards to gel pens.. I have a ton of them - that are clearly full of ink - but I can't get them to write anymore.. :(

From my days as a middle schooler who decorated EVERYTHING...

Crayola (and probably most other) marker ends come off (similar to BIC pens and others like them), and you can stick the pad in water for a second...running the writing tip under water works, too.

This works for Gellyrolls (do they even still make those??), but I'm not sure about other brands of gel pens. We used to take the pen apart, take out the tube that held the ink and blew on the open end. 9 times out of 10 it worked. You may not want to try that as an adult. Like I said, we were, what, 12, 13? :lmao:

Does anyone have tips for rejuvenating dried out markers?

I toured the crayola factory years ago and they were making the markers. The tour guid said the markers will dry out because of a protective tiny hole in the cap. This is so if a child lidges it in their throat they will be able to breath.

If they are Crayola, he told us they are meant to recharge several times. Just pace them into a cup of water for the felt to refill.

I have used this a few times. I never tried it with permanent markers though. I usually run them dry and the Scripty stay moist forever if I put them in ziplock to keep them all together anyway. I love having the varied colors on hand.

I always store them with the cap side down - so gravity keeps the ink on the tip. I think it helps them last longer.

Yes, we were just at Crayola in December and they are still saying that you can do this with them! Good luck!
