Turns out this dog had shown up and the whole family was convinced it was their dearly departed grandfather. The mom was on the phone, calling the entire extended (also colorful) family to come over and see for themselves. As she said, all you had to do was look in the dog's eyes to KNOW it was Grandpa. And yes, the family bit and come came over.
Grandpa stayed for a while, then I believe he took off. No worries, he just dropped by to say hello and let them know he was okay.
He just looked like a big old black lab to me. But then, I never knew Grandpa............Probably not what you're looking for...
Throughout my late childhood and teens, I was friends with a girl whose family was.......Well, different and colorful. The mom always had a yappy lap dog and they just weren't BIG dog people.
One day I came over and there was a big black lab hanging around. I asked about it and they said it was Grandpa. I said, "You named the dog GRANDPA?" and my friend replied without batting an eye, "No, it IS Grandpa."Turns out this dog had shown up and the whole family was convinced it was their dearly departed grandfather. I think I was 13 or so, but I was the only skeptic.Grandpa stayed for a while, then I believe he took off. No worries, he just dropped by to say hello and let them know he was okay.
I might be willing to believe some stories of reincarnation, but I could never swallow that one.He just looked like a big old black lab to me. But then, I never knew Grandpa............
How old is your DD? If old enough, let her read this ... it's fascinating.

I, for one, believe.
.
I was never a believer until I had my youngest son. He spoke very early and when he did he would pretend to talk on the phone to his friend "Rick"(btw he was not using a phone). I figured, okay I have a degree in psych my child has an imaginary friend I can handle it. However when I asked what he was doing he said, he was talking to Rick and that Rick was still over there. He said that HE my son had been a general in the army and Rick was a sargent who used to drive my son(general) and that Rick saved his life(keep in mind my son was around 2).
He said one night he had gotten drunk and he was throwing up and on his back and rick turned him over so he would not choke.
The reason this was so startling was taht first I was a SAM at the time, my son watched NOTHING but Sesame St. Disney videos and Mr. Rogers. I went with him anywhere he went. I did not allow any guns etc (toy) and I knew NOTHING about the army or how the ranking went. I had to ask my dad who btw had been in the navy what branch of the sevice had general and sergant.
I also asked only what my son was doing and NO other questions he volunteered all the information.
Furthermore my son told me that he had chosen to come to me and my husband and that he did not know us from before but that he had known Grammy (my husband's mother) and Auntie(my sister ) from before. He talked to Rick for a while and then it faded.
I have to say also that even though he had not watched any violence on tv he used to try to make guns out of a variety of objects and shoot them. Neither my husband or I drink so even the idea of know what being drunk was at a little over 2 years should have been foreign to him.
After dealing with my son I began reading everything I could about reincarnation. It seems the theory is that lots of kids who speak early can relate their previous lives but as they grow older the memory fades.
I hope that is the case if it is true.Maybe this is what Purgatory is all about. That is, if you believe in Purgatory of course. The famous general George Patton was a believer in this, you may want to look into his writings. He thought he had been in famous battles all throughout history.
That one story is very disturbing to me. If this is true, it puts a lot of religous beliefs in question IMO. Not that mine are, but its disturbing.
I think one possibility is that maybe people are thrown back into the mix that don't make it the first time. In other words, bad in past life, don't make it to heaven, instead of going to bad place, they are reincarnated to start again in the hopes they make it through this time.I hope that is the case if it is true.

Maybe this is what Purgatory is all about. That is, if you believe in Purgatory of course.![]()

In reincarnation, or the theories there of you stay in the same soul type family--so humans only come back as humans, animals as animals, etc.
