Has anyone purchased a resale throught Reid Resort Realty of Tampa Bay? I am looking to buy into DVC and the inventory seems to be low at the other places people have recommended. ie the timeshare store.

Thanks
Joe

We purchased a resale contract from him about 1 year ago. All is well that ends well! We did get the resale, but it took over 10 weeks, and there was a discrpency in the banked points. Reid took care of it to our satisfaction by compensating us.

He can be hard to get a hold of, but he did always return our calls when we left a message. If ever purchasing again, I would try Disney first, then look at the resale companies. Disney was just too easy when we did our original purchase!

I would consider what Reid has to offer, and if it is the points and resort you want go for it!

I can only tell you that when I attempted to let Reid know of my interest in initially getting into the DVC, he gave me mis-information and really wasn't helpful at all. That being said, I'm sure he's assisted many folks in getting what they need in the way of resales because he wouldn't be in business if it were not the case.

I eventually spoke with Pat, Jaki & Shontell from the 'big 3' resellers and Shontell (www.DVCByResale.com) was the one that got me what I wanted. All three of these were very informative and actually very polite when interacting with me.

That's my personal experience with these resellers.

We used Pat at The Timeshare Store. Very professional, efficient and helpful. We would use her again if we have resale needs.

We purchased a resale from Reid last Sept. It took almost 3 months, he was very unhelpful with information about points we needed banked and he was very hard to get in touch with. There were 150 pts that we needed banked from 2002 and when I asked him to have the owner bank them, I received an e-mail saying all 2002 pt were available and that he was sure the owner would bank them for us while we waited for the final paperwork to be completed. I followed through on this several times with Reid (who took forever, each time, to get back to us) and never got a straight answer. When the resale finally went through and I contacted Disney to make a 2003 ressie, I was told the points had never been banked. Luckily the CM was wonderful and Banked all the points for us for 2003 and we were able to make the ressie for Nov. That said, I suggest that if you use Reid, be proactive, stay on top of everything and make sure you get the answers you're looking for because they don't offer up any help.

Purchased a resale VWL unit from Shontell at Timesharesbyresale and the deal went thru without any problems. Will recommend her without qualification.

We purchased through Jaki Apetz of www.atimeshare.com and she was great! Very easy to get a hold of whenever I had questions for her and constantly received updates from her throughout the transaction. :)

Thanks to all that replied. Timeshare by resale(Shontell) had something that fit our needs so we went with her. I still need to finalize the paperwork and then the ROFR waiting game starts.

Hope to going home next April!!

Thanks Again

We have used both the timeshare store and atimeshare.com Jaki's site. Both were very good however Jaki had a way of really making us feel special. She kept us well informed and was sensitive to our excitement about the "magic" we had purchased. She just made us feel good. Had lot's of updates. She was always available.

THANKS AGAIN JAKI :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Jaki is the abosolute best, most helpful.

We used Lee for our VWL resale (great deal on a contrat with banked points when VWL resales were hard to come by). Other than being a little hard to get in touch with and not being as hands-on as Jaki (who we used for our BWV resale - she is great) the transaction with Lee was fine and closed in about the same amount of time as our BWV contract.

I tried to purchase thru him once. After a week or so he finally got back to me that the buyer was out of town. Repeated efforts to contact him never got anywhere and I have no idea what happened. Since I was offering VERY close to asking price I find it hard to believe the buyer turned the offer down. I wonder if the buyer ever even GOT the offer. After that I quit going to his site to look.

Wound up buying from Shontell a few weeks ago and it went great. My first resale was from The Timeshare Store and it went well also.

I've bought from both Shontell and Lee -- good deal from both. The downside with my purchase from Lee last fall was that it took over three months to close. In his defense, I believe that Disney was the hold-up with the rofr process. I never did speak to him. It was always e-mails never a phone conversation.
