Hi,

Looking into finally joining the DVC. Just curious if anyone out there has ever dealt with these people. They seem to have some really good deals on resales. Can't decide whether to purchase thru Disney or a resale. Any thoughts or comments would be much appreciated. www.reid4florida.com

Thanks,
HeatherAnne :)

I made an offer last summer on a contract at Reid's. The seller would not come down at all so I moved on. We did find one with the same points and a much better price and closed on it a couple of weeks ago. We got it through Jaki at http://www.atimeshare.com/disney/ I had called on another one on the web site, but the one we got had just come in and was a better deal. It never made it to the web site.

No fault of Reid's.

I made an offer over a month ago. Mr Reid said he was going to submit it to the seller and that was the LAST I heard. Overall, I have a feeling thier customer service could use some help.

Never actually used Reid, but asked to be put on their list for an OKW contract of 100-150 pts last fall, and they never got back to me! I called them twice after that, and they said they had my name but nothing had come up at OKW. I thought a year is a bit long to wait to at least hear something back from them. Of course, I asked Timeshare Store for the same thing, and haven't heard back from them either, so maybe their story was true.

We used Reid Realty for one of our two resales. Used Jaki at ATimeshare for the other. Reid is not quite as hands on or attentive. Not a lot of calls to update you. It did seem that our offer was not presented as quickly. However, the resale went through without a hitch and closed in roughly the same timeframe as the one through ATimeshare. If you see a good deal thru Reid don't hesitate to go for it. The service might not be as good as thru ATimeshare, but Reid is on the up and up and if your offer gets in and accepted you should have no worries - at least we didn't.

As for resale or thru Disney, take the time to really run the numbers on the resale. Consider not only price, but banked or borrowed points. Also, if you just have to own somewhere that isn't currently selling thru Disney, a resale is the only way to go.

DisneyKids,
I would like to say that I don't really need much handholding. However, my feeling is that they aren't really doing much at all. Using them to buy might work (if they actually presented my offer, who knows!) However, I would STRONGLY recommend against using them to sell. Based on my contacts and those of others on this board, you had better hope you have a seller who is motivated and stays on them, they don't seem to care if you sell or not.

I say this because I made a very resonable offer. I was never told what the status was. In addition, there were several other contracts in the same range and it would have occured to me that even if the first seller refused my offer, the realtor could have tried to steer me to one of the other contracts.

I used the Timeshare store (board sponsers) and was very happy and all I really needed was someone to mail me stuff!

I've used Reid and he does get some attractive resale prices. Lee contacts via e-mail so the "personal touch" isn't nearly as good as Shontell's (bought from her too). Both cases seemed to take longer than I expected probably since I was anxious to close and make my next ressies.

Another vote for Jaki Apetz at A Timeshare Broker 888-345-2622. She was very helpful and very low key. No pressures and communicates well with you.

Good luck on the decision.

I just used Reid to close on a BWV re-sale. There was times I wanted to call and speak to them (he told me that he had layrngitis and preferred to correspond by e-mail) and was not able too. I messages I left for him went un-returned - but he did respond to the emails/offers right away.

So instead of maybe 1 phone call - we played email tag for days!

It did take a long time - our offer was made in July and it took until the end of Sep to close.

I dont have anything else to compare it too - but I guess I am neither satisfied or dissatisfied with the experience.

Not sure if I helped or not.

Agreed, Lee doesn't seem to knock himself out like Jaki or Shontell. Nonetheless, we had a very smooth transaction and got a good VWL resale at a good price. If I were selling I guess I would go to someone like Jaki because it seems as though she would work harder for you.

Our contact with Lee was all email as well. Not the most effective means of communication, but it worked.
