So DF and I are looking for somewhere to have a rehearsal that's casual and fun! FMIL actually wants to invite all of our wedding guests (50ish people) so we do not want to do anything wicked expensive. I read somewhere that you can do a outdoor rehearsal/bbq at Shipwreck Beach? Does anyone have any information on this or anywhere else? We would love to be able to do it outside on Disney property somewhere. Thanks for the help!

I'd talk to your wedding planner. They'll know a lot of options.

As, I don't think you'll be able to get an ADR for 50ish people.

We had roughly 50 guests @ our Rehearsal dinner as well! (It was more fun to invite everyone!) Actually, I thought about a clam bake on Shipwreck beach (DH's mom LOVED Ariel's and wanted that.) But, it wasn't for us ~we live 5 minutes from the beach and NEVER go! So, we chose The Attic at the BW. It's the perfect size (holds 60 max) and was SO COZY! Plus you'll get a GREAT view of the aerial fireworks of Illuminations at EPCOT from the porch/balcony. (it's partial indoor/partial outdoor space)

Definitely talk to your WC b/c they have TONS of "hidden" rooms & outdoor options too that you'd never think of- (like the "Dish Room" on the 3rd floor of AA or even Fort Wilderness)! You'll have a lot of choices...it's Disney after all!

Good Luck deciding!!!:)

We did a rehearsal dinner at Shipwreck Beach- it was wonderful. At first, I was going to invite everyone to the bbq on the beach and then head over to our Illuminations Dessert Party. However, once we started adding up everything, we had to make some cuts. We ended up having about 30 people for the beach bbq- we went VERY casual- I believe the Chip & Dale BBQ buffet menu (hamburgers, hotdogs, bbq chicken, beans, etc). I asked them to take the dessert off the menu and reduce the price since we were going to the dessert party afterwards. Of course, Disney worked with me on this. We also served just beer & wine (also cut some costs rather than all open bar). I did work with Disney florist to put some casual, not pricey centerpieces on and added hawaiian floral print tablecloths. It came out really great. The only thing you have to worry about is the weather. It started to rain towards the end so everyone ran under the trees. It was much better than raining on our wedding day! It is a wonderful, beautiful location and I'm pretty sure you can see the Epcot fireworks from the beach.

You can definitely ask your wedding planner to help with this- Marion planned everything and even added some extra bonuses we didn't ask for. Good luck!

I love the plan for a large rehearsal but don't really see it in our budget, so I figure I'm going to mention it in the packet we're going to send out, and mention the price (I'm think 50's PTC or WCC) and they can come if they want to, or not. this way it's on them and not on me. I'll invite the bridal party and pay for them, but I don't think I can swing another big event. That's always an option.

Do you have pictures from this?

I have pictures, but here's a dumb question- how do you upload the pictures to your message?:confused3

When you go to post, click on the picture of the mountain...it will tell you to enter the url of the image...so you probably need to upload it to photobucket or another site like that...I usually just upload them by using the facebook url from it--HTH

this is a picture of my hubby and I during our reception dinner on Shipwreck Beach.

We also wanted a fun and low key reception. Since the location was up to DF, he wanted it at the Rainforest Cafe. With 32 in our party, we chose to have it at the Animal Kingdom location because we all thoroughly enjoy our air conditioning and didn't want to have to contend with the weather at the DTD loc. (a larger group would be outside under a giant mushroom). They have menus for 30+ guests and they are $29, $32 and $39 per person (the usual 6.5% tax and 18% gratuity not included). They also have a kid's menu option for $11.50pp and open bar ranging from $3-$32pp from 1-3 hours. (the $3 is soft drinks and bottled water for 1 hr). HTH :)

We are doing a rehersal luncheon on Shipwreck Beach! We are inviting everyone and doing a big BBQ tailgate party since the superbowl is that nigth, so this will be like our own pre-game tailgate party (as well as rehersal lol). This was DF's only request for the wedding so I gave it to him and am really loving the idea now, especially if our Pats make the superbowl next year:goodvibes
