Hi Can anyone give me some ideas on having the rehearsal party at a WDW venue? We were thinking about a dessert party but was unsure that only one hour is adequate. Your thoughts on that and any suggestions would be great.

We're doing a big group rehearsal dinner at Kona Cafe. We wanted Ohana but it wasn't available but we love Kona more anyway. IMO, making a group dining reservation is the easiest way to go, especially if it's a buffet. :thumbsup2

If you're not already doing one with the wedding, I think a dessert party is a great idea. You can do appetizers with the desserts if you'd like. They will only serve food for an hour without additional charge, but I believe you can have the space for longer at no extra charge if you want more time to mingle. I would do 2 hours for me instead of the 90 minutes they normally do. I'd start at 8, food from 8:30 to 9:30 and then finish at 10.

we were a small group (28) we ended up just making 3 reservations of 10 for a late lunch at crystal palace. i wish i had made the same reservations and had dinner at park faire with the cinderella/ugly stepsisters/etc character meal! that way people wouldn't have had to go into the park if they didn't want to.

a dessert party would be great fun!

Are you able to extend the time on the dessert party to start at 8 for no charge, as long as you only have the food served for a hour? Could I start it at 8, do food for a hour, end at 10. For no extra charge?

Yes, although usually they only extend dessert parties by about 30 minutes. Your planner can tell you what your options are, though.

We have a party of about 25 for a rehursal dinner and yesterday I got on the phone with disney dining reservations and a wonderful CM helped me find a restaurant that could accomodate us at the time we wanted. We ended up at the Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. Fun Fun Fun!!!
