Rehabs, Refurbs and Closures. Official Disney sourced information.

Cafe Orleans will reopen on September 20th, according to Disney email I received.

They have Toy Story Mania closed on the 5th of Sept, as of right now just a one day closure. I might as well stop trying to plot out where I am going each day until I'm down there, I keep having to change up my plans, lol.

Disney does not withhold information to tick off guests. I am sure they release it as soon as they have everything planned out. They would rather give information a little later than information that is incorrect.

I just don't understand why they can't ge there act together?
WDW sets up the rehabs 6mo. In advance.. Why can't DL do the same?
If they know Indy needs a big over haul, put it on the books and let us all know about it.. Don't wait until 3 week before our trip and then close the ride..

Now I can understand if a ride has to be closed immediately, due to safety issues.. It's happened before to us at WDW. But it's RARE..
They don't delay as late a possible and then tell everyone at a point that no one can change their plans..

PS.. Still no word on the phone or on the website about Indy going down... :confused3

I do not want to come off as if DLR can do no wrong. DLR is not WDW. Why can't WDW post their secondary entertainment schedules in advance? DLR does it 4-6 weeks ahead of time. They do things differently.

One of the reasons WDW posts refurbs further in advance is they cater more to vacationers from far away who often make their plans to visit WDW 6-12 months in advance. DLR caters more to locals and those making longer trips can be planned a month or two in advance.

Generally the big refurbs do leak out 3-6 months in advance. And often the leaks turns out to be true but not always.

I suspect DLR has not announced an Indy refurb because:

a. they are not planning a refurb in September

b. they are planning a refurb but are not sure when they want to do it - they are prioritizing it in conjunction with other projects at DLR as far as manpower, budget and trying to coordinate so not too many things go down at once if posssible

c. they know they will start the refurb soon but have not worked out details and do not want to announce it until they do

Again, I cannot imagine they sit around knowing a refurb is starting in September and knowing all the details but just not announcing it because they are lazy. There would be multiple things they are trying to balance out.

Is it frustrating for guests? It can be - especially for those going in offseason who are more likely to be affected.

That's one of our family favorites. I am so happy it is not on the list. We are already missing out on IASW for the holiday overlay.

Have any dates been released for when IASW will reopen? Shattered that we are missing Casey and storybook canal, would hate to miss IASW too as that's half the reason for the trip from Australia! And I'm very confused, is BTRR open or closed? Thanks : )

IASW closes to add the holiday overlay and then reopens for Christmas in November and the closes again in January to remove it. So it closes twice. Which closer are you talking about?

If you are asking about the first one then from Disneyland at Christmas Time (and Holiday Season) Information & Photo Superthread! ~ Sherry E you can see that IASW will be open by Nov 12 this year for the holiday period opening.

There is a rumor BTMRR will go down for a long refurb sometime this fall (Sept/October). But it is a rumor. No Disney announcements.

I can understand your reasons... However it is upsetting enough to people who call or look on line.. And see these are the ride that will be down and plan around those :crazy2:

DL already holds off releasing these until 6-8 weeks before, then to add a huge attraction to the list with only 3 weeks I feel is a little unfair..
At least add it on to the day you have not published yet... And yes i know it says it can change, but i would think the only reason it would change would be because a ride went down unexpectedly.. Not bc DL can frim up things..
This maybe what they are doing, since the recording on the phone says only through sept 25th... But as other have said, CM have been told sept 3rd:confused3
Just my thoughts

PS. Still no published word on Indy going down on sept. 3rd..

One last thought....
Indy and BTMRR could keep getting pushed back..
I mean if they did Indy on sept 3rd that would mean HM, Space, Story train, Boats, and these would all be down.. That is A LOT of rides to be down at once... O and don't forget IASW will be down too in there..
I just wish they wouldn't change the published dates unless they REALLY REALLY had to..

Please calm my fears! Will July 2013 be safe from major rehabs? We are WDW vets so there can rehabs at anytime even in the summer. Are rehabs at DL more during the off season because DL has more of an off season than WDW?

Summer is the most untouchable season for refurbs at DLR. The only refurbs that will impact summer are those that last 6+ months. Usually. The rumored BTMRR refurb is rumored at 18 months so it would impact all seasons including summer.

Thanks! If BTMRR is down for a rehab for next summer we won't be too upset (just a little disppointed because it is a favorite) because we have that attraction at WDW. I will keep checking the updates on the rehab schedule. We want to see all the unique attractions to DL that is different from WDW;)

They seem to be getting the SpaceM conversion done faster each year.

I'm just happy PoC is open this year.

Thanks hydro guy for the info!

We're going nov 15-16 and hoping for the best! Dd's favorite ride is BTMRR! I so hope this'll be open!!

Just wanted to say "thanks"!

I hope they don't refurb BTMRR until after the halloween and christmas seasons. That would make the most sense...to me. : )

We will be there in Oct, the 9th, for 10 days. We;re already disappointed that Casey and Storybook boats will be down, but not as big a deal as if it was BTMRR.

The Mouse Expedition site says it WILL be down mid-sept for at least a year. I am hoping you are right. So far it is only a rumor!

Thanks for all your information and advice, Hydro. I've learned a lot from you!

Mouse Wait has gone so far as put that Indy will be closed in Sept on their website. I can't believe they'll do that without actual confirmation from Disney's website and just go off what a CM says. Wish I knew for sure what is going on! Like it was stated before, if Disney has a major refurb planned, they should wait and schedule it on an unpublished date, so people won't be upset about changes in their plans.

The CM who reported it is a reputable CM, I've never known her to post anything that wasn't true. I think it hasn't been announced because the dates might not be firm, but several CMs on there who work in Adventureland have confirmed that it's going to happen this fall/winter.

Well, I hope it won't be until at least Oct, since most of the schedule for Sept is already out.

In case you all haven't seen it, this thread #2975623 reports that it will be down Sep 4 - Dec 7. (had to put the spaces in there because I only have 9 posts...)
