Rehabs, Refurbs and Closures. Official Disney sourced information.

Al has been pretty dead on. Guess will have to wait and see.

Is Al Lutz always right? Just curious on what he has been right on in the past about ride refurbs? Anyone know off hand?
Of course not. He has been wrong but I think it can be demonstrated his track record is pretty decent.

Too bad about Casey Jr. Being down when we'll be there. DS2 loved this ride last time when we rode in the monkey car! Oh well, at least I won't have to spend the rest of my day in the park with that song running through my head. :rolleyes1

Aladdin's Oasis was closed some days while we were there (the 8th to 13th of July) but other days was open for restroom and table use, and was also open for meet and greet once or twice, for a few hours. So the status on that seems to be all over the map. Never saw them serving food there, though.

Without having read anything anywhere, it's very clear Indy needs some serious work. The ball does not roll down, which is sad and confusing, makes that part of the ride kind of weird and nonsensical, and the projections of the cobwebs don't work at all any more (making that part of the ride really weird, you're just going down an almost entirely black part of track, with a single bright light pointed at you? that's supposed to be scary?) as it seems that the "mist generator" doesn't run at all. There are other minor glitches -- there's definitely some fire effects missing, and some other lighting effects that don't work -- and so it's absolutely missing some of the "magic".

Al is wrong at times, but he was totally 100% correct with all the details for the recent Matterhorn refurbishment... if he says Indy is going down for a long refurb, I'll believe him... the ride clearly needs it.

Its really a bummer to hear the ride is in that bad of condition. I guess for the sake of the ride, close that bad boy down and fix it! Dh will be a little disappointed, ah well such is life going during the off season. I'm just surprised Disney hasn't announced it yet, wonder how close to the date they will? If they do, of course ;)

I just wanted to chime in to say how I LOVE the title of this thread. :goodvibes  :wizard:

Ain't it amazing how the imagineers designed those invisible shoulder/lap bars?
Perl, the thing is, we have had this debate already. Most of us around here are not Al Lutz fan boys but find what he writes sufficiently informed that we listen to what he says and use it for discussion. No one ever said he was correct 100% of the time. Even so, whenever the name Al Lutz comes up you throw out these little remarks. Why don't you start a thread on Al Lutz or something and we can hash out whatever needs to be hashed out and be done with it? Then in the future we can just link to that old thread. I understand you want to rag on Al and take some joy in anything he said which turned out to be wrong. But I find your steady drip of snide comments tiresome. Especially when I and others have already responded to those comments.

If your point is Al Lutz is sometimes incorrect, we all agree. Let's leave it at that. If you have a different point then please make it. I do not know what you are trying to achieve and I am getting the sense you do not either.

:cool2:

Wow...this is a fascinating study in social web relations...first, an english lesson, then a look at web inter-relations...

I'm not a psychologist, but I play one on TV; just kidding...I don't know enough about Al Lutz and his past accuracy, however I had to stop myself from being upset with him regarding his prediction about Indy since I'm planning a trip for September and would hate to miss it, but he's just reporting, I'm guessing, something he heard from a source (doesn't he usually make a disclaimer that these facts are only as good the rumor mill they came from...or something like that, and always subject to change).

So I think some of these ill feelings toward him are based on him being the bearer of bad news, or is it because he holds himself up to be an authority figure on all things Disney and many here feel that they are, so whenever they can discredit him, they are the higher authority.

Not wanting to step on any toes here...just thought this thread was getting very interesting, and I second the idea of making it a Sticky, since the Disney website seems to be way behind the phone line recording information.

Cheers to all!

Yes make this a sticky. More than a few minutes have been lost trying to find a thread like this :) Seems to me that a big ride always goes down for a refurb in the off-season so maybe it's Indy's turn. From that one post above it sounds like it needs it.

ps: I have an Al Lutz poster.

pss: j/k

Disney has the schedules out to Sept 6th and so far, no Indy on the refub list:banana: I know that can still change and they can add it on at any time but there is hope at least! I know it needs it and all, but we missed Indy in the spring when it was down for chain replacement or something like that, it would be awful to miss it two times.

No offense to AL but I hope he is wrong... No more ride going down until after we leave!!!!

I guess Muppet Vision must be closed so they can put that new Halloween overlay for the Frankenweenie movie in! Kinda excited to get to see that! Should be cuuute! :D

Well I keep calling... Although I'm tried of hearing speedy ( nick name iv given the fast talking guy on the phone)
I'm happy nothing has changed so far, just have to get through sept 19th with no more rides closing..
It seems so far the phone message is right on track.. But we will see..

O yes..
Please please someone make this a sticky!!!

A CM, who works on Indy, posted on mouse wait on 8-4 that Indy will be shut down for refurb 9-3 to 12-8. If this is true, why isn't the website and automated phone message updated?! I'm really upset because this will be the first trip my daughter will be tall enough to ride. What the heck?!

Disney does not withhold information to tick off guests. I am sure they release it as soon as they have everything planned out. They would rather give information a little later than information that is incorrect.
