Rehabs affect on planning?

I've been away from the DIS for a while. Presently mulling over a WDW trip for sometime early this summer. I was a bit out of the loop on the latest rehab news, but I see where if I go in early summer BTMRR and Soarin' will both be closed, along with of course 3/4 of Hollywood Studios.

I've been to WDW many times and rehabs are no big deal because I am thankful management is maintaining and improving attractions. HOWEVER... not having BTMRR or Soarin' and with DHS a shell, that sort of hits me right in the feels and gives me pause about shelling out retail price for a vacation in early summer. Am I the only one?

Heck, I may still wind up going but it sort of takes some steam out of my daydreams of a week at the Wilderness Lodge and a meal plan to boot for my little family of four.

This is our first trip.

I'll admit that I considered delaying it but in the end I figured that there is still plenty to do. Plus being our first trip, I don't have a clue of what I am missing, so in my case I suppose one could say ignorance is bliss!

Are you aware of the major construction going on at the WL? I would hesitate to stay there this summer. Check out the resorts sub forum for info

They are always doing something. Just go now and see enjoy it.

That is the draw for us. Disney is always refreshing itself. We have settled into an every 2 year visit cycle to make the most of new things. If something is under construction ow, it should be finished when we retuen in 2 years, and something else will be started.

They really aren't closing a lot at HS, all of the biggys will still be open, RNRC, ToT, TSM, GMR, ST are all still open. All they will be closing is some of the shows and most of the back lot so no Stunt Show.

I moved my vacation from April to Fall. Not only do you have the closings in April, but Rivers of Light, Frozen, Night Animal Kingdom are also all not open yet. It is not that any one of these items was a deal breaker, but the overall quantity and quality of things opening/reopening between April until Fall just made sense to me to postpone.

Oh, I am acquainted with that attitude. We could probably have a great time at WDW if we never even went on a ride. On all our trips there is always something that is down (been there without Haunted Mansion. Peter Pan, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain to name a few). It's just there seems to be quite a pile up closures at one time in the particular window of time I was looking at. Makes me think I might rather postpone the WDW trip and spend a few bucks doing something else this early summer. I had wondered if this was a common ethos, but the again I forget that WDW is hosting huge crowds all the time these days so it probably takes a lot more than that to dampen enthusiasm to a notable degree.

I do agree there is a lot "closed" or being "refurbed" at the current time.

We missed the 7DMT opening by 2 weeks in March 2014.

Did 2 weeks in Maui 2015.

Now it is 2016, and all the things going on. We for the most part are going to see 7DMT and some of the new places to eat at Disney Springs. There will be a lot of pool time for us when we go this March. And we are totally cool with that.

We do 3-4 hours in the parks each morning....5-6 hours at the pool.......then 4-5 hours at the park at night. Those splits may need some adjustment.

As much as it pains me, we are skipping our trip this year. I had wanted to go the second week of July, but with no firm opening date for BTMRR and Soarin' and DHS is just a joke a this point, not to mention that we'd be staying off site so we'd have to fight for good FP+ choices/times, it just doesn't seem like a prudent way to spend my vacation dollars. We'll likely be back next year with the increased Soarin' and TSMM capacity and all the new offerings at AK, but this year we'll pass.

The only thing closing that really makes me sad is High Octane Refreshments :worried:

If you go in/after mid-July, BTMRR and Soarin *should* be reopen.

I am thinking that's the case. Maybe Disney will offer up firm dates soon for reopening of Soarin and BTMRR. If not, it looks like DD may be in the College Program next spring (2017) so I am sure we will visit some then

You will have ROL and Sunset Safari at AK, as well as Frozen - several new experiences to make up for the two you mention. I would delay my trip if I were going in the spring - I would be mad to miss those new things by weeks - but in your case I would keep my dates the same.
