Just came back from a 5 day stay and after my hamburger bun at Peco's Bill falling apart from the toppings on the burger and same thing with hot dog bun at Beaches and Cream, can anyone tell me if any place at the world has regular buns. Maybe Rainforest or some others any help appreciated.

The fountain in the Dolphin has great burgers.

I think most of the TS locations still have proper rolls.

Can you request regular buns @ the cs places or do they only have the new ones that fall apart & taste awful?

They only have the *fall apart ones* as the CS places. We only found the hot dogs to really be a problem. The hamburg rolls weren't too bad...I think the grease from the burgers kept them together. ;)

When we were there in early October we ran across the same thing everywhere we went inside the parks. However, we noticed at The Mara at AKL that they had the regular buns for burgers. I am thinking that the resort CS locations still have the regular buns that do not fall apart, but no such luck inside the parks for counter service anyway. All TS restaurants should have the good buns also.

Hi
We had vegetarian hamburgers from Cosmic Rays and the rolls fell apart. I guess there wasn't enough grease on the burgers to hold the rolls together!!

Guess we weren't very observant - we buy cheap ones @ home so I guess we're used to buns falling apart!:thumbsup2 I really didn't notice them & we had bbq & burgers @ Pecos Bill & Cosmic Rays -

Sorry to break it to you, but we just returned today, and I had heard about the "bad buns". I went to the CS at PORS and ordered a hamburger, my hubby didn't know anything about the bun change and he asked me what happened to the bun on hamburger. It completely fell apart. I am really unhappy about them changing the stuff that works, Which brings me to the new TTA, but that isn't for this board. lol

I'm don't know why in the world they would change a good thing. We may have just gotten lucky at Mara when ours were the good ones. I'll make sure to skip all these places that have changed until they go back.

This all started after that "Super Size Me" movie.
Typical documentary maker editing things and making it worse than reality to get their opinion across IMO.

McDonald's realized that the nanny state was on the horizon and got rid of super size meals.
People need to make their own choices, if they can't then why should I suffer.
Two big Macs, giant fries and a diet coke. I don't know why I am gaining weight.
I understand the argument that it costs me in medical cost etc..
Does getting rid of super size meals stop people from living on Mac and Cheese at home.
No it does not.
Now McD has a dollar menu so instead of supersize they just order extra items IMO.

Someone at Disney decided that when we were on vacation one week a year we should eat healthier and they started to replace the white breads with a brown healthier bread.
I reacall a press release related to this.
I was really annoyed when they started putting the Italian sandwich at Pinocchio’s on this bread instead of an Italian roll. It made no sense at all.
I eat healthy all year, I do not want to on vacation, at least not all the time.

I also think they changed the bun on the kids meals before the adult burgers and hotdogs.
They also changed the fries to carrots and the dessert to fruit by default.
You had to ask if you wanted fries and a sugary dessert.
Now they assume you want the fries and say, "You want fries instead of carrots."
Of course I want fries.

Brown wholegrain bread has it place and I do not have an issue with it.
If you want it should be an option.
The sandwich in the Norway bakery at Epcot is excellent and has a brown nutty bread.

When I eat a burger or a hotdog I want a nice white bun.
I'm obviously not eating healthy if I am having a burger or hotdog.
I am an adult, I can make my own decisions.
I also want 100% beef hotdogs, not the franks they have changed too.
If you want healthy there are many options in Disney.
At a minimum give us a choice when you are charging $5 for a hot dog.

I know that the regular bun in the Contempory QS is a brown seeded bun- Ididn't have it fall apart with my hoiney lime chicken sandwich but I was with someone who could not eat seeds and she was given a plain white bun instead and I know I will order that in the future as I did not like the taste of the one they use.

The guy in that movie ate as much as was humanly possible at McDonald's three times a day for a full month. No wonder he got the result he wanted to convey.

But many places that serve food are seeing the writing on the wall and converting to what the "food police" term "healthier" items. Disney apparently is struggling trying to find the medium between "healthy" fast food that can be provided for dining plan prices - that Americans will also eat.

And no, you can't request different buns. They likely do, however, keep stuff onhand for those with food intolerances - but I am not sure those items will turn out to be regular white buns in any particular place.

You might find it on old threads here or on a google search, but at some point Disney was lambasted by either the Surgeon General or a private group for serving the most unhealthy meals in the business - and their first move was to change ALL the children's meals over which Disney had control to items like cold grilled chicken strips, raw vegetables, chicken pizza on whole wheat pita, no french fries, sugar-free gelatin, apple slices or yogurt for dessert, etc. That worked for a few months before the onslaught of complaints from parents whose kids preferred typical "kid food" changed it, so Disney's working in increments now - wheat bread instead of white, french fries not provided automatically with kids meals (you have to ask for them).

And now there is the switch from beef hotdogs to beef/chicken hotdogs (I bet those are cheaper too)

We had burgers at the Pepper Market at CSR last week which were on normal white buns.

Thanks for the info.
This makes a lot of sense since Pepper Market is independently run, so I assume they do not have to use the same buns.

I had a hot dog at the counter service at OKW and the bun that it came on fell apart. Taste-wise, I really liked it, but I would have preferred it had stayed together and I had therefore been able to eat all of it. When I took my first bite, a significant amount landed on the floor.

When we ate at Beaches and Cream I had a cheesesteak and it came on a regular white longer roll, so after DH's hot dog roll fell apart, our waitress brought him a cheesesteak roll for his hot dog. The flavor was different but at least it held together. Our waitress told us that the powers that be have stopped them from giving pickles with burgers, etc. You have to ask for a pickle if you want one. I love my Disney trips, but really they are cutting cornors way too much. We love B & C, but will only be going there for ice cream. Hot dogs there are around 8.00 with a bun that falls apart and the size of the hot dog is like a kids's meal. I don't mind paying but I would like to get my money's worth.
After returning I received two surveys and believe me I did complain about the food. I am on vacation and want to eat whatever I want. I watch what I eat at home and diet if need be before vacation. If we are there a week and eat out every nite I may eat fish or chicken or a salad one nite, but that is my choice. I am an adult and can make my own decisions, please don't limit my choices. I will be back in Jan. and will still be eating a hot dog at Casey's even though they are not the same, but a burger may not be possible.

Last Thursday, my husband and I stopped at Casey's before leaving the MK to share a hot dog. The first roll was completely apart when we opened the hot dog, so DH took it back. It literally took 3 or 4 rolls before one would stay together enough in order to put toppings onto it. :sad2: He talked to the manager and was told that they have received many complaints about the rolls.

It's not the taste, it's the fact that it falls apart so easily. It defeats the purpose of having a bun at all.
