After my many threads on the YC....thanks to those who responded...I've decided that we should change our reservation....

I've come to discover that there really is no place to pick up a cup of coffee in the morning...or grab a pizza on the way back to the room, without having to walk to the BW or stand in a 30min line at B&C....
These may be simple things...but thats the one thing we love about haiving a balcony....sit on it, and drink some coffee or hot chocolate....
I could be wrong with this...but from what I have read...you either have to go to B&C...the BW...or a sitdown place...(mornings and evenings)

next was the pool issue...SAB was one of the main reasons we booked this resort...one of the best pools on property...but I read that it sometimes closes at 7!!! This has to be a joke!! We're traveling down at the end of August...hours are shortened...last year the MK closed at 7 and sometimes 6 at that time of year...we enjoyed coming back to the resort and swimming...plus after the parks is really the only time we can go swimming...
did I get this wrong too...

So these are my concerns...maybe I got it wrong...maybe I got it right...but could someone please give me first-hand accounts....or even the pool hours for SAB!

P.S....Does the YC have something like the POLY...you know...like a bakery or a simple coffee cart(main house at the POLY)

If morning coffee is really one of your biggest concerns I wouldn't be too worried. We stayed last year and the lobby was equiped with a coffee roll cart in the a.m. It didn't run all that long, but it was nice. Also at B&C if you had a resort mug you could walk into the carryout section and just fill your mug with coffee no wait. Hot chocolate was not included with the mugs so you do need service for that. We sent our DD every morning for coffee and hot chocolate and I never remember her taking very long or telling us it was really crowded.

As far as SAB goes, we were there last July and it was open until 10:00 pm. I believe the other pool was open even later we just didn't use it. Have you called the resort to ask about pool hours?

I guess if food court is your top priority I would move but this really is one great hotel:cool:

I wouldn't give up the YC! Toooo beautiful! Note on your requests now you would like a coffee pot or if not in the room upon your arrival call Housekeeping for one. They will bring it up for you!

I would call the resort with your concerns. Perhaps the pool is open, just not the slide. If they can provide you wth a coffeemaker, problem solved. Bring your own hot chocolate to make in the room. We I have also traveled with a small 4 cup coffeemaker. The lack of quick food service at this resort also concerns me. It costs a lot to stay there and I would not be happy running around looking for food constantly. For our Nov trip to the WL, I will be bringing my own coffee, tea, cocoa, soda (at BJ's it comes out to .25 a can for Coke), water, parmalat milk, breakfast and snacks. With the holiday crowds I just don't care to waste a lot of time running to Roaring Forks. I have heard of people shipping their food items or making grocery stops on the way to the hotel.

We usually eat our lunches and dinners in the parks.

Call them.... if the pool hours are okay, go for it. Just improvise with the food!

We just returned from a stay at the BCV, and Stormalong Bay was open until 10:00pm every night of our stay. We were there May 23-29. I don't drink coffee so I can't answer that question, but I can tell you we fell in love with the YC/BC/BCV, so much in fact that we are seriously considering buying DVC there.:D

The pool is open until 10 pm. We took alot of food with us since we drove. Sandwich fixings and breakfast stuff. My only problems was late evening quick dining. B&C is open until eleven but is crowded late in the evening. They also have late, late room service. There is a restaurant for lunch and breakfast but we were never there during lunch hours and had a snack in the room for bfast. The location of the resort is wonderful though. Knowing what I know now I'd still go..

ok guys...thanks a lot...
you guys were extremely helpful!!

as long as there is a coffee cart....we're all set...
and the pool closing at 10 works out great!!

we will keep our reservations at the YC!
We're defialtey looking forward to it now...

When we stayed at YC this past Feb. SAB was only open until 8:00 PM. However they also have a "quiet pool" which was always open. I see your concern with the food issues. Our biggest concern with the food was that after a day in the parks we didn't want to have to walk around the boardwalk for coffee. The walk though is not too far and it was beautiful at night.

They will probably do take out at the Galley (breakfast) you could just ask the hostess for a couple of large coffees to go and see if they can accommodate you.

Have a great trip - we are staying at BC and cannot wait!!

>>^..^<<

A really good alternative for quick-service lunch or dinner in the YC/BC area is...Epcot. Britain, Morocco and Japan are all relatively close to the International Gateway and have pretty good quick-service eateries.

Obviously, this works best if you have an AP, or a park hopper ticket that you're planning to use the same day.

I know your concerns. We are off to there in October and I think I am this close to convincing my husband we need to stay on the concierge floor :D . Partly in thanks to insight on this board. Yes it is quite a bit more and it seems we could use the money for room service, but I think I like the thoughts of them making all my PS plans. (hopefully getting us into CRT)

I was planning to make a store stop on the way from the airport, but I love the idea of someone else coordinating the breakfast. It will be great for the girls to have fresh fruit in the morning.

P.S. Hush hush on the coffee cart thing with the dh:teeth: .

Happy Disney!!!!

We are staying at the YC in mid Oct. I've also done similair research and that's one of the reasons we decided to book the conceirge floor. Morning coffee, tea, hot chocolate it's all there. I thought it also be nice to come back at night and not have to wait in line for soda or snacks. The snack will be avail right up in the conceirge lounge. I've already receive my conceirge packet and I very impressed I think we will be very please with our choice.

I've heard such glowing reports from my friend who have stayed there I just have to try the YC. This from a diehard Poly fan that loved the convenience of Capt Cooks and the refillable mugs.

Bottom line you have to choose what your comfortable with.

I would love to stay at the con. level...but I'm already lucky enought to be able to stay standard view at the YC...never mind at the con. level...
I love all the perks...but for us....its not really a deal for all the extra money...I guess it works better when you have a group of 4 or 5....when the cost of breakfast for the week alone is equal to the extra money for the con. level...

I will have the UPH tickets....we booked the fairytale package...it will be cool to come back to the resort for a swim and some fish and chips form England:tongue:

free coffee eh...your never see that in Boston... :o

hopefully pool hours will be up to 10...I'm dissapointed to hear SAB closed at 8:(

Thanks again...

Hey there! We will be at the YC too, the exact same time as you - and we are also from the Boston area! Are you flying out or driving?

I posted this very same concern at another message board that I visit besides this one. With three kids in tow I am worried I won't find a good variety of quick foodstuff for everyone. But I've been told that Hurrican Hannah has quick stuff, and as far as coffee goes, couldn't you just make it in the room with a coffee maker?

Also, Some people mentioned that while SAB may close early, the quiet pool will be opened 24 hours for a quick late night swim....

I've also begun with little regrets, especially since I've seen the park hours for the week we'll be there.... not especially encouraging. However, I've also been reassured by those who went last year that with the lesser crowds, we'll get more done.

While we've been to WDW a few times, this is our first time staying at a deluxe with the kids, so I'm a bit apprehensive, but I'm committed to giving it a shot.

If you want, I'll send you an email with some great info I dug up...let me know!

Sue

You will absolutely love BC. We stayed at YC last August - the best disney resort we ever stayed in. SAB was great and was opening all night. I normally don't like to sit by pool but this one I did't want to leave. I wish I could stay there this year, but it's a little to high this year - last year we got a great deal and decided to treat ourselves. have fun.:D

Forgot to tell you, you can request a coffee pot to use, but bring or buy you own coffee and mugs.
