I see they have registration from 11am -5pm. Do people usually register and head out to the parks, hang around, or both?

I'm beginning my planning (yes, you commandos are catching on :D :D ) and I'm wondering how long I should really allocate this on my grid. (yes, i have a grid too. ) :D Do mini-meets get scheduled aroung this? Come on guys help me plan.

:teeth: Patience, my dear, patience :teeth:

Last year, people registered as they came in and there were several meets scheduled during that time. Nothing big mainly lunch meets because most people were getting settled in and, of course, we didn't know each other.

Barb is working on the mini-meet list, as we speak, (or at least she better be instead of working on her road trip) ;)

Hopefully in the next day or two (I know Patience is a virtue) we will have a beginning of lists and meets and itineraries to start working with.

Now is the time to recruit not plan. (how's that for a motto?)

I think Tammy has way hit COMMANDOMODEGIRLDOME!!!!!!!

ROFL

What's this? Our dear sweet innocent Tammy pleading patience?

The world as we know it has come to an end.

Will wonders never cease? I didn't think Tammy could do that....Wait a minute!

Did the evil dollies take Tammy over!?!?!:earseek:

OMG!!! Who's in Orlando right now? Perhaps we should send somebody over to rescue Tammy!!!!

I, myself, would love to volunteer, but I can't take evil dollies with knives laughing at me......just keep saying, "It's only an attraction, it's only an attra......"

::a blood-curdling scream erupts from the crowd::

ROFLMBO :teeth:

Good thing I didn't have anything in my mouth when I read this thread, if you know what I mean.

I have fought my way back from the good side (or should that be the dark side? There are to many sides to keep track of.). It was tough but I am back. :p

Are we there yet? When are those mini-meets, Get a move on it Barb. (is that better?)

successful hijack accomplished. Hee Hee

I challenge anyone, New Yorker or not, to try and "straighten" me out. Many have tried, none have succeeded. ;)

Maybe I just need to find the right woman.

Ok, I am being patient ... well kind of ... but i had to LOL when i read tammy's reply.

Anyways .... but here's what I'm up against, dbf says "so what's the schedule? show me the grid."

So i do. and then he says things like, [imagine grumbly voice] Do we really need 6 hrs for registering?
What will we be doing during all the empty space in the grid?
You told me that you were going to plan this all out... blah blah
that I shouldn't make plans ... blah blah
He's really a "type A"... a good guy but a planner through and through... :D

So I guess my real question is.... when Barb schedules the mini-meets does she put stuff in the schedule during DisCon (dec 4-8)and then we work around that? Do lots of mini-meets usually conflict?

Hmmmm... Steve, was that a quote from Victor/Victoria.. God, I loved that movie and saw the play with Julie Andrews on Broadway..

LOL Lorax! Your DB sounds like us!!!!

The schedule is still going through the birth process, but I can tell you about last year and how it worked out.

There were lots and lots of events planned. Some were long events, but others were not. For example, the thrill rides tour was very long, most of the day. But not everyone wanted (or had to) to do that.

Some people joined the thrill rides tour and did a few of the mountains in MK and then waved goodbye and went elsewhere.

There were some mini-meets that occurred at the same time. The tea was scheduled at the same time as the Behind the Scenes tour.

That probably doesn't help much  , but there are not events planned 24/7 (but don't tell the commandos :p), and there is time to do what you want. You can join as many mini-meets as you want, or none. That is the nice thing about DIS Con. And the schedule I am sure will be posted soon. Hang in there, and tell your DB to go weed the garden!:p j/k

I'm going to do my best to imitate last year's itinerary. I'm sure we can pull that off. I think Ray's posts have a link to last year itinerary, if you'd like to see what your up against. I'm also going to try to not have the meets go up against other meets. Some may have to. For example, the Thrill Ride meet will be an all day event, so there may be other things going on for those that don't want to do that meet. Give me a day or two and maybe I can have something for us to play with. :)

Ahhh Barb, don't you have it done already. I thought you were the master. ;)

Oh wait a minute, you are secretly planning the meets around what rides will be down or what might go down when you are around. :p I can understand that might take a while to DIScern and so will go back to being my patient little self. :smooth:

What I did last year was go to the registration table - got my laynard name tag and stuff - also signed up for the tour - checked my dinner time and place - and then headed off to the Animal Kingdom for the day - then met back at the Opening Reception

Last year I spent the morning and afternoon with my family in the parks - then registered around 4 p.m. It really doesn't take long. Then I went back to my hotel and got cleaned up for the reception.

the fire and ice ride in isle of adv. sounds really good to me.FOR THOSE WHO DARE TO TRY IT!!!!lets test the courage of our disconers
