Hello fellow brides or brides-to-be!

I see that now you can do your wedding registry for stores like Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and such online now. I was thinking about doing this, but then I didn't know if I would be 'missing' out on the whole experience of going to the store and taking the little gun around and scaning stuff? What do you guys think? is that a really fun experience or not so much? Would it just be easier and less time consuming to just set it up online?

I think it kinda depends on the store and the items you are registering for.

If you know exactly what you want then registering online is kinda fun. If you need to look over certain patterns, colors, textures, etc. - you'd be better off going to the store.

I did all my registries online and didn't feel as though I'd missed out on anything by not going to the store. You can also avoid pushy salespeople by registering online.

Registering online may give you more options as well...you can register at a lot of places (Williams-Sonoma, Crate-and-Barrel, etc.) that maybe you can't get to in person.

I'm sure others will have some other input for you as well!

For our initial registry set up I just went to Bed Bath and Beyond and did it. I didn't really add that much though knowing I could always add more online later. (DF didn't come with me because I run the show in these BBBeyond areas and quite frankly he wouldn't just been asking "Can we leave yet?" if he were there. :rotfl: )

I add things to our registry every few weeks online, it's so simple! But my suggestion is to go into the store, register for what you want, and add whatever you didn't think of online later as time goes on.

Also, Target doesn't have a good return policy. So just something to think about when choosing where to register. Additionally, Bed Bath and Beyond will give you CASH for anything returned from your registry if you want it even if your guest purchased it on a credit card. GREAT PERK!

Seeing as you're asking if you'll miss out on not going in person, I would go. Then you'll know for sure and not have to wonder about it anymore. :goodvibes I didn't register at all and don't feel like I missed out at all. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't go and have a blast doing it!

I just registered at BB&B and Target a couple weeks ago! I set up the account online and registered for a few things, then went to the stores and registered for a few things, and then went home and finished online! There's things on the website that are not sold in the stores, and there's things that are in the stores that are not on the website. I liked doing alot online though, because I was able to price compare between BB&B and Target, and read reviews on different things. So I would definately do both!:thumbsup2

Groom to be here, but I'm also the one that runs the kitchen at our house :)

We registered in-person at BB&B to start, then did an in-person at Crate & Barrel. I got to hold the gun too. :) I really think more of these places should have a few 6-packs stored in the back for the placation of us grooms!

One thing to keep in mind is that not all registries are created equal. It appears BB&B is one of the nicer ones, as you can return anything on your registry for cash...Target, on the other hand, is apparently a pain in the rear to deal with. I've heard similar not-so-nice things about Macy's as well.

YMMV, of course.

I LOVED going around with the gun in the store! It really is alot of fun. I will tell you that you will be changing a lot online anyway. I had to add, delete and replace things all the time when they went out of stock or weren't available anymore. Also with Bed bath and beyond, they get new stuff all the time so I always added new things.

I initially did my registry online with Target, but I'm thinking I'm going to redo it at the store. I recently printed out a registry at a Target store for a friend's wedding, and had some problems finding things because a lot of stuff was available "online only." I personally like wrapping gifts and giving them to someone, and it seemed like a waste of money to have gifts shipped to me.

Also, I've heard Target is horrible about returning gifts, even though they're coming off a registry. Not that it's stopping me from registering at Target, but I figure the more hassle free I making my registry then hopefully I'll avoid those issues.

I did both, and found that I preferred to do it online. The scanner gun was fun for about 5 minutes, but at a few of the stores I went to, the guns didn't work half the time and you had to scan the same thing a few times until it took it. Also, at the stores, you have the listen to this same basic spiel from the bridal salespeople. It took more time to listen to that than to actually scan things.

:rotfl: that is so true!!!!!!!!!!!! DF and I were about to scan a set of pots when one of the sales people stopped us and gave us an hour long lesson on what pots are good and which are bad. We ended up with Calphalon pots after that. :lmao:
