Hi...does any one know the "rules" of having guest visit overnight during your stay? We rented points for a week from a DVC owner so we are their guests and now my Mom and Step Father want to visit for 2 nights/3 days and I am not sure how to go about it. Tried to contact the DVC owner that we rented from but no luck...maybe away We have a 2BR villa for 2 adults and 2 kids -one that will be in the pack n' play. We are confirmed to be in a dedicated 2 BR Villa so we obviously have the room for them but will we have to pay more or can we just add them to our reservation when they arrive?? And are they able to use the pool and the park transportation as well? Thanks for any help/info :cutie:

I would just ask the member you are working with to add them in advance since you are still within occupancy. There should be no problem having them visit (and stay) and there would not be any additional cost.

The only variation would be if you are purchasing the Disney Dining Plan, in which case they would need to be added to that also - even if they are only staying a couple of nights. They can get their own room keys and parking pass.

Have a great trip!

Thanks...we are on the dining plan so will they have to pay for the full week even though they will only be there for a couple days since that is the plan we are on?? I cannot contact my DVC owner that I rented from...no reply.
I think she might be away. Can I add them on when we arrive as they will not be arriving until the middle of our stay? Thanks so much for your replies:)

I would still try to get the member to add them before you arrive. It shouldn't be a problem to add them on arrival IF the dining plan wasn't involved. I believe with the dining plan you'll have to pay for them for the full week even though they will only be there a couple of days.

I'd suggest cancelling the DDP in your situation. If you have the AP you could purchase the DDE card for about $50. This would entitle you to the 20% discount on food AND alcohol purchases. This would probably work well for you in this situation.

Have a great trip,

Jay

If you do not hear back from the owner before your trip, I would ask the front desk for help with the situation.

Perhaps the hotel will allow you to add your parents to the DDP for only the nights they are there. We all know the mantra about "all guests for every night" but when I asked MS about a similar scenario I was told to ask at checkin and it would be up to the resort (in my case BC/BCV). So it sounds like the resorts do have the final say.

Thanks for all your replies...it is so nice to know that with the DIS Forum there are so many nice people out there willing to help you or give advice...again Thanks:);)

I think this is sound advice. There should be no problem adding them to the ressie.

DDP IS a problem. You are going to have to make prior arrangements through the owner you rented from, and you are going to have a choice of getting DDP for the inlaws for the whole week, or canceling the DDP.

DVC owners may or may not get lucky at checkin...but you are not an owner, and MS won't even talk to you, much less add DDP. Only the owner can add DDP, and they have to do it in advance.

I agree, I'd try to contact the owner and get the reservation adjusted according to your current needs. Technically you cannot change it IN ANY WAY at check in however if you show up with more people and want to add them to the DDP you likely will be allowed to do so. And you could also ask to get the DDP without adding them and see what they say. The trouble is the DDP rules are a catch 22 in this and other situations. i was in one of those situations last Sept when I didn't know if it was going to be 1, 2 or 3. Fortunately I guessed right so it was not an issue at check in.

I too would think getting the DDP for this trip is not a good idea with the extra people for this time unless you plan on burning a lot of credits at Signatures or Dinner Theaters.

Just so you're aware, you are not guests of the owner. You are renters. As renters you are not entitled to any of the normal perks extended to owners and their guests staying with them. You need to show the blue membership card to obtain these perks.

This includes things like free valet parking, pool hopping, and the regular DVC discounts at various restaurants, etc.

You are entitled to all normal WDW resort perks, such as free parking at the theme parks, Extra Magic Hours, and use of all bus transportation.

There are a few CS restaurants on the DDE, but they are very limited (mostly where there is limited TS available like AK). Mostly all TS restaurants.

According to my list that came with my card, these are the only CS restaurants:

  • All-Star resorts' food courts.
  • Pop Century
Animal Kingdom:
  • Tusker House
  • Pizzafari
  • Flame Tree Barbecue
  • Donald's Breakfastosarus

All the other remaining dining locations all appear to be TS. I count 79 TS restaurants (including two shows: Hoop-Dee-Doo and Spirit of Aloha)

Two other perks are Half Price admission to Pleasure Island, and free admission to Atlantic Dance.

By parks...
  • Magic Kingdom: 5 restaurants
  • Epcot: 12 restaurants
  • Studios: 6 restaurants
  • Animal Kingdom: The 4 CS restaurants listed above
  • Water Parks: none
The remaining restaurants are:
Resort restaurants(almost all resort restaurants), Golf(Bonnet Creek), Downtown Disney(Ca''n Jack, Planet Hollywood), Pleasure Island (Raglan Road), Wide World of Sports (All Star Cafe).

3 restaurants are off WDW property, at Vero Beach (DVC)
