Register for Aug. 31 Cinderella Castle Suite tour

We did the tour last night and it was awesome. We were on the 6:40 tour and checked in right outside the Liberty Square bridge restaurant with 2 DVC guides seated near the tables. They gave us little stickers and took us to the castle near the entrance to CRT. We were led behind a big blue door, where we went to a smaller door on the left. There was a small lobby where the concierge sits and an elevator. We were led up to the suite on the elevator by a concierge named Michael. He told us about each design in the elevator and how basically everything in the suite was planned with lots of details. We had another concierge named Michael (yes 2 Michaels) tell us about the actual suite. As the previous poster said, the room is much smaller than what it appears on the commercials. There are 2 queen beds and then a sitting room that has a fold out couch. There are 2 tv's which at first look like a mirror/picture. He showed us how to turn them on and that they have the same channels as all the other resorts. They can also pipe in the Wishes music straight inside. There are windows in the suite that he said tell the story of Cinderella. He said they are alarmed and if they are bumped or someone tries to open them, an alarm goes straight to 911 to report it. He showed us how an armoire type wall unit hides a refrigerator stocked with sodas and water and a dvd player. Michael said that guests get robes 4 inches thick to wear and can ask them for anything. I asked him what the weirdest request he got was and he stated some college age guys asked for a top hat with motor oil and an apple rapped in tin foil. He told them sure, but why and they said just because they wanted to see if he'd get it. He said the most common thing people want is pizza. They told us that the room will never be sold/rented and will always be a prize given out somehow.

Michael also showed us how the fireplace turned on with a remote and had fireworks bursting in it and how what appeared to be books on the mantle were speakers. There were large concrete colums near the bed with very beautifully carved images of Cinderella's mice sewing her dress. The floor's tile had glitter in it.

The toilet really had a throne top and the shower had a ton of shower heads. There was a glass slipper towel design made. There is a jacuzzi tub and all of the products they had were H20 like on DCL/the resorts, only bigger and more of them.

We were in there for about 10 to 15 minutes. I took lots of pictures but will have to wait to upload them sometime tomorrow.

We were there at 1:20PM and it was really special. My 3 y/o daughter thinks she sat on Cinderella's bed and has told everyone she saw for the rest of the day.

Our concierge told us that many people wait until the park is empty, then put their robes on to take pictures in front of the castle. Sounds like a very original family photo! :)

We also took lots of pics, but won't be able to upload until later tonight.

I'm off to DHS with the family including my wife's two grandmothers...both in their mid 80's. They are having a blast! :thumbsup2

By the way, crowds at MK yesterday will very low. We waited less than 10 minutes for everything, including walking on to splash mountain and thunder mountain.

I too have lots of photos, if I see anything that is missing from the previous poster I will add it a little later today.

It was great hearing our guide Debbie say that there are 60,000 cast members who will never see that suite and we did! I will agree with other posters that I was surprised how small it really is, but still very nice!

We had the 1 pm tour with another couple who were on there anniversary also dissers, hello out there!!!

It was beautiful, attention to detail and a hidden mickey!!! I too took tons of pics, I just wanted to put on the robes and get into that bed!!!!

I consider myself very lucky. The DVC guide said that each year they are given one evening in the suite, last year they had the sweepstakes, this year they wanted to try to have many members enjoy it, we were definately in the right place at the right time.

Thanks so much to everyone posting their comments and pictures of the Castle!! Keep them coming. Does anyone know if they will be doing this again?

We were speaking to a DVC guide near Space Mountain after our tour (she was going herself at 10:40) and she said the suite tours booked so fast and were so popular with everyone wanting to do it that they were definitely considering doing it again. We ran into a dream squad member at Epcot and she said she was only in the suite once for 2 minutes so we were definitely fortunate to have had the opportunity to tour it.

Cool! I was there during that tour also. How did our tour of 5 end up being 7 anyway? Did you catch Michael had a hard time turning on the spa lights like it was his first try "in the dark"? I'm sure that was the upteeneth time that day for him.

I also think the suite was smaller than I thought it would be. Very nicely furnished but still small. It was indeed cool to see and was thrilled that it happened during my visit.
:yay:

Some of the fun tidbits I learned on the tour...

1. There is a grandfather clock in the foyer before the elevator that is stopped at 11:59 -- that way the magic is still in place for everyone and the spell hasn't been broken.

2. The interior of the private elevator was designed to match the interior of Cinderella's coach.

3. Her glass slipper, size 7 1/2, is on display in the upper foyer along with her crown and a beautiful pumpkin.

4. There is a beautiful mosaic of Cinderella's coach, similar to the ones in the pass through of the castle, on the floor of the upper foyer.

5. The story of Cinderella is shown through scenes in the stained glass windows and carvings around the suite.

6. Fresh flowers are delivered to the suite 3 times a week.

7. Out of 60,000+ CMs, 24 were chosen to be Concierge CMs for the suite ... a very select group!

8. The fireplace also has a "fireworks" show in it, which includes a hidden Mickey.

9. The music from Wishes and SpectroMagic are played in the suite.

10. The sunken tub has colorful lights in the bottom and a stary sky above.

It was absolutely GORGEOUS!! princess:

Anyone else?

Yes, So far no one with a Service animal has won the suite.
(Technically the suite is considered same as a hotel room and must be ADA acceptable)

There is also a possible hidden mickey in the sunken tub.

It was an unbelievable experience, we took the tour at 4:20. We just got back last night so I haven't downloaded my pictures.

I too was surprised that it was smaller than I expected.

Our 7:00 tour learned that there is a secret door on the opposite side of the foyer at the entrance to the suite.

Our CM asked one of the children on the tour to knock on the door to see if Cinderella was ready. Each time the child knocked on the door she stepped back and waited. Nothing happened. Our CM was visibly concerned that no one was opening the door.

Finally the CM said "knock louder". The child knocked loudly and stepped back. At that time another door behind the child opened and struck her in the back, startling all of us.

It seems that the door conceals the stairway entrance used by the CMs to get from the 1st floor to the suite. 7:00 was shift change and the now very embarrassed CM who was to answer the door was a bit late reporting for duty.

We also were surprised at how small the suite was. It was lavish but small.

There is an exclusive towel creation to the suite. In the bathroom, at the dressing table was a towel shaped into a pillow with a slipper on it. It was totally cool! Our guide told us it is only done for that suite! The flower arrangements were just beautiful! It really was spectacular. Pictures just don't do it justice but if any of mine come out well, I will post them.

Hey everyone!

I thought I'd pop in and share some of our pictures, since we had a magical time too! I agree - the suite was smaller than I expected, but it was still amazing. I could've spent hours in there (at least!) exploring and taking pictures. There are so many nooks, crannies, and details...it was beautiful. My sister actually got to go up in the afternoon while my time was later in the evening, so we got pictures from both times of the day. Obviously, this didn't make much of a difference, except in the sitting room, but it was still a neat experience.

Hope you enjoy the pics - granted, some of them aren't great (it's a lot of pressure to capture the moment and actually experience it at the same time!) but it certainly was a dream come true!

Edit: Just a warning, I just checked the link and the photos are somewhat out of order...sorry for any confusion. If you have questions just ask...I can't figure out how to move them around on photobucket! :)

Thanks for sharing the awesome pictures. It's always great to see the same thing from someone else's point of view. I could have spent hours in there too! I think I took pictures every 5 seconds so I could "remember" everything through them. I also love hearing the different tid bits told by everyone from different concierge staff.

Tecodis, I didn't know you were a Diser! I wasn't sure if you were all together. My DH took a lot of video during the tour and I'll have to try and get him to upload it on to photobucket to share. I've never done a video upload (other than from my digital camera) so it may take a while!

Yes, the two of you did!!
:thumbsup2

The kids were definitely not part of my entourage! The one laid on the trunk at the foot of the bed and put his feet on the column!
:scared1:

Yikes, I bet my mug is in your video then.
Sorry to ruin your pics/video!
:sad2:
