Regis philbin Leaving Live

So sad, am watching as well (since we're stuck inside with this ice storm) and was very surprised to hear he is leaving!

On topic... Good for him! Maybe spending time with the grandkids over the hoildays helped him decide. And I'm sure Joy wants to be out in California with the kids. I know I would want that.

Who to replace him: Mark Is great when he's on. Although I don't know if that would work every day. Howie Mandel, Anderson Cooper & Neil Patrick Harris are my favorite replacements. But they are all big stars with lots else going on. Wonder if they'll try a more local replacement, like when they do the radio host or weatherman replacement weeks.

Live isn't on here yet - it comes on at 9 central. Did they say when Regis was leaving?

Our area just started getting Live again after it had been dropped for a few years.

I saw this coming..... I am just thankful I was able to meet him recently at a taping of his show. I am happy that he is leaving so he can spend time with his family!!

Kelly will do just fine with her own show. There are so many good ideas for replacement. I would like it if her husband joined... and of course Neil Patrick Harris, but he has his own show? Anderson Cooper is on alot?

I sure will miss him every morning!! At least we have a while before he leaves.

The man is very very wealthy, has has an incredible career, has a family, has had good health. why should he work every day? why shouldn't he retire. I personally think he should have retired 10-15 yrs ago. Let the next generation get their break like he did.

I agree - he should have left awhile ago. I find him to be very annoying, much more annoying then she is so no sadness here!

I don't think so. They had a similar contest to fill in for Kelly a month or so ago. I don't think the two are related.

I agree, Regis has been at this a long time, and it must be an exhausting pace. I hope he goes on to enjoy himself for a good long time

I'll miss him, have been watching since 1991. I think PP is right that he will be moving to California (2 grandkids there)

I know this won't be a popular statement but he was starting to remind me of a forgetful and addled old man-which is exactly what he is sometimes. I find him painful to watch when he says dumb stuff or isn't clear about what's going on. He needs to retire and rest on his laurels before he has no laurels. I LOVE Anderson Cooper and I think he'd be a great foil for Kelly. Mark should continue his career in made for TV movies and being a sub host once in a while. No married couple should have to work together every day and then go home together at night. Familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone needs a break-ok guys, I realize there are some of you who want to be with their spouse every single minute of every day and love it, lol! I could come close to it but even *I* need a break from my wonderful man.

We totally agree at this house. When I was little, my mom would LOVE to watch Regis and Kathy Lee on her off days. We haven't watched in the past few years for this exact reason - Regis has become painful to watch. We LOVE Kelly, but hiring someone so young made Regis' shortcomings more obvious. He should have quit shortly after Kathy Lee did. He's become the crazy old man on the front porch.

We're excited to be able to start watching the show again soon.

Although this really isn't a surprise given his age and amount of days off, I love Regis. He's like 'Grandpa' to me. So for me it is a little sad. The end of an era. For me, he IS "Regis and 'whomever' Live". But, I wish him well! I hope he has a great, and fullfilling life after "Regis" Live. As he said, he's not retiring, he's moving on...

Granted, he's become a grouchy and forgetful old man, but I still love the guy.

It's going to be so weird without him but I can't wait to see who they decide to replace him with.

Now, Larry King? He should have retired 15 years ago!
