They start with a new segment for the first 15 minutes, when they place the phone call. Then they show a miss-mash of repeats from the past year. It is humorous to see all the different suits and dresses they are wearing as each segment comes on. Are we supposed to think that this is all new - especially with the guest stars talking about "NEW" shows that came out months ago?

Yes I know and I hate it. They always do this at the end of Aug. and during the holidays. They are off on vacation. This week has been a mess.

Shhhh...If you guys keep talking about this, the other viewer may catch on.:rotfl::rotfl:

Seriously, I like Regis. Kelly's OK, but Reg is the best.:goodvibes

I bet there were a lot of unhappy people
who got up early to get in the stand by
line to see the show and there is none!!!
Sat in the audience back in april, loved
it!! Reg and Kelly are great!!

I laugh at that myself. They talk for about 2 seconds and then do the summer grande call within 3 minutes from the start of the show. Normally they talk for the first 15 minutes about their past evenings :happytv:

The new season usually starts the day after Labor Day. The View has been repeats all month.

I saw the episode on Tuesday morning, when Hugh Jackman and Tom Hanks were there. I thought Kelly must have been changing her clothes before each new segment. Then I realized it was stuff they were repeating.

Kelly's my favorite. I could do without Regis. In fact, I love it when he's gone and they have guest hosts like Jeff Probst, Jimmy Kimmel, etc.

I hate it when Kelly is gone and they get Regis' wife, Joy. Ick.

My question is though - are they really coming in for a short time each day to make the phone call, or is that all done on one day and spliced in throughout the week. My thought is that if they come in for the phone call, they might as well stay the full hour.

They pre-tape them, they are on vacation.

You can tell when they pre-tape a show, they don't mention any current headlines, no newspapers are sitting there and "host chat" is short.

The View is always pre-taped for Fridays, they tape it earlier in the week.

But how do they handle the phone calls? The questions are about the previous day's guests. And where do the audiences come from that they give the prizes to? Do they have the same audience the whole time they are taping the 15 minute segments?

Oh, yes. You can also tell that it will be a short "live" segment because they do not have the announcement about Twitter or email inbox.

Yep you can tell the beginning of the show is pre-taped. One day Kelly had on an outfit (dress) that she wore a few weeks ago on a live show. So I think they plan and tape for the phone calls in advance if they both will be on summer hiatus. Plus they don't talk about today's current events, previous evenings etc... Just think, they didn't even mention Ted Kennedy's death. You know Regis would of spoke about Ted Kennedy and sent his sympathy to Ted Kennedy's family if the show was live. I think they prepare in advance for their vacation and know what segments they will be showing. So the producers base the questions on those segments which are repeats.
