Pop or soda? (pop)

Grocery cart or buggy? (cart)

Glove compartment or glove box? (compartment)

Add whatever you can think of.

You've got to give people all the options :)

It's a "coke" (even if it is a Pepsi)
And the supermarket-thing is a "wagon"

bag or sack your groceries (bag)

the big one around here is we stand IN line, not ON line when we are waiting!

soda
glove compartment
shopping carriage

also..
I drink from a bubbler - not a water fountain
I have jimmies on my ice cream cone - not sprinkles
It's a cabinet or a frappe - not a milkshake.
I eat grinders not subs or hoagies.

Never heard that!

My husband does something similar. To him, all fruity flavored drinks are "juice". Kool-aid is juice, juice is juice, Wyler's is juice.

Soda
Cart
Glove compartment
Bag
Hero or Sub
Sprinkles
Couch
Magic Kingdom (not "Disney")

What a confusing laguage we have...

not odd at all in this neck of the woods ;) colored ones are rainbow jimmies although they're much less common than the regular jimmies.
LOL, well I meant it was odd to know that what was chocolate only is used for all colors... I had never heard that before! So it was only odd to me ;)

Any soft drink is Coke to me.

My mom's family from Central VA. calls kids "chaps". As in, "Go call the chaps in for dinner".

Pop
Cart
Glove compartment
Sprinkles
Sneakers

And I am 100% sure I've never heard anyone here say "y'all". :teeth:

I think in most places people refer to standing "in" line, and "on" line is the much more limited, regional one. Isn't it, everyone? Which do you say?? We may need a poll for this one :teeth:.

I know I've heard and seen it here a few times, but what region is it where they stand "on" line, anyway? I'd never heard anyone on TV or anywhere else say it until I started hanging around on the DIS. I've still never heard anyone on TV or in a movie say it, and no one anywhere I've ever lived says that except in reference to being "online" on the computer.

And to show you HOW regionalized this is, I'm only about 45 minutes North of Crankyshank, and we

Don't have cabinets--just frappes
A grinder is toasted in the pizza oven, a sub is not. No hoagies here.

Yep- I have to adjust my vernacular accordingly the closer to Boston I get ;) DH has been here 6yrs and still has problems with it :teeth:
Cabinet is an almost exclusively RI term. I usually get my sandwich toasted anyhow so no problems with grinders vs subs for me.
When I lived in FL it was a trip ordering stuff. Imagine my horror when no one knew what a grinder was, and even more annoying - no one knew what a medium iced regular was at the Dunkin Donuts!

Yikes.....let me think here..

Tonic for soda
coke is coke
glove compartment
in line
jimmies are the chocolate sprinkles, would never think of rainbow ones
Frappes are milk shakes with ice cream, milk shakes are milk with flavoring
submarine sandwiches for subs or grinders
sneakers for all gym shoes or tennis shoes
bubbler for water fountain
shopping cart for carriage
going food shopping...not to the market but to the store.
it used to be the cellar(very Boston) when I was young, but now it is the basement

I drink soda. Pop is someone's father or grandfather (although my father is "dad" and my grandfather is "grampa"
I shop with a cart
Glove box and glove compartment are pretty much interchangeable, although I think I probably use glove box more often simply because it's shorter
Both the chocolate things and the colored things on ice cream are jimmies
I drink frappes, not milkshakes
I wear sneakers
I drink from a bubbler (actually sounds more like bubblah when I say it)
I eat subs, not hoagies, grinders, or Italians (I think that's what the Mainah's call them)
I say wicked instead of really or very (It's wicked hot, That was wicked awesome, etc)
We use bags for our groceries
We stand in line, not on line (being online means we're on the internet)

Let's see...

It's not pop or soda, it's Coke
Glove Box
Shopping Cart
Milkshake
Sneakers
Subs, not hoagies
Sprinkles, for either chocolate or rainbow
We have water fountains, not bubblers.
We stand on line or in line.
Only basements around here.

Soda
Cart
Glove box
Bag
Sub
Sprinkles
Milkshake
Sneakers
Water Fountain
Basement

I grew up in NJ but now live in Florida.

 :earseek:

THE HORROR!!!!!!!! :lmao: ;)

And yet, no one here bats an eye if you order a medium iced regular in the middle of February when it's -20 degrees out.
