Regional Ice Creams that you LOVE

Everyone (generally speaking) loves Ben and Jerries and Häagen Dazs ice creams, but often we all have a local ice cream make that blows the competition away.

For me, it's Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream, Salcombe being a small fishing town on the South Coast of England. Superb. Rare to find, but soooo worth it.

What is YOUR outta-the-park ice cream brand?
Gilly’s Creamery ice cream… only in Virginia. They make a smooth blue moon ice cream.

There are some that I've seen around here, even though they might not be local.

Certainly Tillamook and Umpqua from Oregon, Clover Sonoma and Strauss Family Creamery from Marin/Sonoma, and McConnell's Fine Ice Creams from Santa Barbara.

Not sure what happened to it, but there was Double Rainbow. I guess it still exists, but I haven't seen it much. A few other local ones in the San Francisco Bay Area are Three Twins (OK - they went out of business) and Lappert's (based in Richmond, California). The latter gets a lot of confusion because it's the same name as a company in Hawaii that was founded by the same family. That one is odd.

A question we sometimes get is “I was just in Hawaii and had Lappert’s ice cream, is it the same”? The short answer is no. The company in Hawaii which makes the ice cream you had there is separate and distinct from my company here in the continental United States. They make their products in Hanapepe Kauai and we make our products right here in Richmond California. I did inherit 50% of the company in Hawaii from my father Walter Lappert, but there is no present connection between the products of Lappert’s Ice Cream here on the mainland United States and those of Lappert’s Hawaii.

ONLY IN HAWAII

We are not related to or affiliated with Lappert's Ice Cream in the mainland.

Lappert's Hawaii products can only be found in Hawaii and on our website.

The local premium ice cream in Southwest Michigan is Hudsonville. My preference is their orange and cream swirl and during the Christmas season, their peppermint.
I Grew up on Hudsonville Ice Cream so I can't say I have a favorite but yes peppermint is up there. I'm a Blue Moon girl but my stand by is Mint Chocolate Chip.
Fellow Wisconsinite here!! :thumbsup2

To piggyback off of this, there’s an ice cream flavor called Blue Moon that (correct me if I’m wrong), is only popular here in the Midwest!! Kwik Trip’s “Nature’s Touch” brand has a great version of this. It’s super sweet and delicious, and the flavor is up for interpretation. I think the “official” consensus is almond- like an almond extract flavoring. I think it tastes like Froot Loops :)

OH My gosh another Blue Moon Lover!!! I can't find it here in Ohio so when I go to MI I get my Blue Moon fix. I always prefered the Almond flavoring type but one of times I recall seeing a description it was Fruity Citrus flavor so I can see where you get fruit loops taste from.
I saw that Hudsonville had a Blue Moon flavor in Walmart but I had no idea what is was and not sure I wanted a whole half-gallon of it, but it would be fun a birthday party!
It's a very Yummy Flavor IMO. I guess I have to look at Walmart now.

As for Brands I don't have a favorite per se. I Love most of Meijer ( regional one stop shop chain) brand but I bet it's Hudsonville Ice Cream brand just under store label, I do like Graters Coconut Almond Chip but I think it's more flavor than the brand.

Not Ice cream but use to often go to Corona Ice King - for my Italian Ices. (Rainbow or lemon). The best IMO Although there stupid no mix ordering annoyed me.
