...Do you always get the current UY points when you purchase directly from Disney?

We're going to "roll the dice" and wait until after Feb. 18th to see if there is a new promotion. I'm willing to risk the 100 developer points we would get in case they are not offered. However, I would like to get the current UY to be able to bank them forward.

If I wait and buy after Feb. 18th will I still get the current UY points with MFs prorated regardless of any other offers?

DVC has always provided points in the current Use Year and prorated the maintenance fees with any purchase. However, DVC has NOT always allowed the points to be banked if the purchase was beyond the banking deadline.

Recently, MS has been banking current points from a purchase without regard to the deadline, but in the past those points would need to be used by the end of the Use Year.

Just be aware that they may not have any current UY points left for your UY month. I know this has happened to some members who wanted to add on at AKV. Also, don't wait until the last few days of your UY to add on. At least one person who tried to do that was told that by the time the paperwork was processed, they would be into the next UY so the first set of points for the add-on would be from that next UY. In other words, "current UY" refers to the date when your add-on is processed, not the day you call your guide. If Member Admin is backed up, it can take a week for your add-on to be processed.

Just to reinforce Doc's comments, we purchased AKV points in July with a February UY. At the time, you had until July 31st to bank 100% of your points. I of course didn't realize this until well after that deadline, but a quick call to MS and I was able to bank all my 07 points. So remember it never hurts to ask...and now based what I have learned on here if you don't like the answer you get, ask again until you do.

Are the current incentives a good deal compared to previous years? Do you think the incentives after January 18th will be better, worse, stay the same given that the economy is not that great? If the current incentives are "good" compared to previous years, I'll snag them. If not, I might wait until after the 18th. The guide I spoke with indicated that the current incentives are pretty good and probably won't change since given the housing problems, stock market drop, etc. Thanks for your input!

The current deal is pretty good. You get all of those "bonus" points. Personally, my favorite was the Friends and Family promotion from the previous two years. Its hard to say what deal is better, Disney has a habit of raising the price per point every year. If you wait, the deal seems better but the points are more expensive.

The current referral promotion ends Feb 18th. No word when the next will start.
