We have replaced the drop down menu to switch forums with a new one located at the bottom of the page. The new one should result in improved board performance.
For those that want technical details... the old one was a dynamic PHP script that caused database queries everytime someone opened a page. Pete coded the new one in javascript, we do need to edit it when we add or remove forums but losing the queries makes that minor!
It's not available on all the boards yet but we are working on it!

Thanks!

I used it once a little while ago and, the post times reflected were WAY off. It's probably me.

But I was so enjoying my language lessons. ;)

Thanks Alex and Pete for all you guys do behind the scenes to keep us happy!!!

Thanks, Alex :)

err, where did the DIS CON board link go?

The scary thing is, I <i>do</i> understand this.

I have no clue what all that meant, but I'm interested anyway. As long as it works. :)

Way cool! It seems to have improved board performance significantly!

Thanks! :)

Hey Alex!

The forums are working fine! But.....I've noticed 2 things using the new forum jump:

1) Once in a while I have had to login after using it to reply. It seems to happen once in every forum visited for the first time with the new jump. I tried to reproduce it again, but couldn't. Could have been just needing to reestablish the cookie or something.

2) It wipes all the highlights of posts read in a forum. This is probably more important, as it's the only way to keep track of which posts I've read.

I'm also probably one of few who didn't miss the forum jump feature, as I don't use it. I'm so used to using the top links from another website that has them as the only way of navigation :D

I'm having the same problem..having to login everytime I go to a new forum with the jump. Maybe that's Alex's way of telling me to stay put :)

I think I know what the problem is, I will work on it tonite!

I understood the initial post, too. :)

And I'm having the same problem with the cookie loss as well.

Thanks for bringing back the/a forum jump list! :)

Now what will we complain about????

J/K thanks for all your hard work Alex, it is appreciated.

I didn't notice it way down there, Thanks!

Alex, I did not notice a forum jump on the DVC forum.
