Are we limited to only pet paths for walking our chihuahua? Or can we walk him with us anywhere, and to the beach? We plan to have our "pooper scooper" bags with us at all times when he is out.

Also, we have a "pet stroller" (yes, he is spoiled). We were wondering if we can use that and perhaps take him to campfire with us? He even has his own Mickey t-shirt as well as stitch t-shirt. He dresses well.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!
Winnie

Pets are only allowed in the pet loops, unfortunatly not everyone pays attention to the signs at the exit of the loop that says "No pets beyond this point". Thank you for asking! My DS is scared of dogs, even little ones(no reason why though:confused3 )so it kinda spoils things for us when people think that since it is just a little dog it's ok to bring it everywhere.

I am so sorry your little one is afraid of animals. What a shame.
Ours is all of 4 pounds.

I am also a little bummed we can only walk him in our loop. Especially since we have a stroller for him that is quite secure. Oh well. Thanks for info.

Blessings,
Winnie

Really don't know why, and it can be a pain sometimes. He is learning to trust some dogs, but it takes time. Our neigbor has a little dog too and we are atleast to the point where he won't run from it and will sometimes even pet the little guy. When he was walking next door yesterday a rat terrior puppy had "escaped" from home and just wanted my son to play with him, DS froze, wouldn't even pet the puppy, so the puppy kept right on running, the puppy's dad did finally catch him and we got DS to pet him once he was on the leash. We are trying to desensitize him.
Have fun with your little gut at Disney, even in the pet loops there is plenty of space to walk and lots of kids who will play with him.

I saw a couple pull their dog in behind their bike..in one of those attachments that you usually put a child in...low to the ground..and covered. It was the cutest think I've ever seen. Of course they were riding over to the WL..so it did look kind of funny to see a dog there. They didn't stop, just biking over from the campground and took the pup with them. I believe he was an older dog, because when we biked through the Fort we did see them walking him.
I wonder if the dog is in a doggie stroller...he isn't technically walking on the grounds? The ones I've seen have the screening in the front. So they can't jump out or really bother anyone...but rules are rules. I've seen those dog strollers...my mom has a pug..and she wants to get one for it. Been seeing them more often lately.

Please remember other people have allergies and do not want to deal with you taking your pet where it doesn't belong. It is not cute to them. The post strikes me today because I have children with severe allergies to dogs and am trying to deal with a situation of people bringing their dogs into banned areas causing my children to become ill.

The signs at the exit of the pet loops state "No pets beyond this point" It doesn't matter what the animal is in, or how old it is as far as I can tell. To me, no pets means no pets. Before anyone gets upset, we always bring our beagle and stay in the pet loops. There are plenty of areas for walking pets, in the loops and by the designated areas around the canals. I really don't see any reason to "bend" the rules on this one.

Thumbs up to you. You are a responsible pet owner and I for one appreciate that attitude.

I just don't get it when it comes to people taking their dogs out of their pet loop area.

Do they think that their dog is soooooo special and that everybody will love their dog?

Wonder if they also walk the dog around the block back home and do so without a doggie bag. Ahhhh, but their dog knows not to go on the neighbor's yard.

I am working at getting Mickey the Wonder Beagle to pick up after himself, but so far no luck. What a life - I have actually been trained to not only take him out whenever he wants, but pick up his poop too!

Man, I will be sure and contact Disney about all those wild animals walking around. Those rabbits, possums, raccoons, deer, squirrels, ducks and even turkeys need to stay where they belong...in the woods. Come on people. They asked a simple question and NO ONE is going to die or have an allergy attack if they happen to see a 4lb dog in a doggie carriage or on a golf cart. A simple answer of no...the rules state the dogs need to stay in the pet loops and cannot exit them was all that was required. There was no need for any other comments.

olbear,

If you want more area to walk your dog then I think the 1600, 1700, 1800 & 1900 loops are all pet loops and are grouped together/across from each other and this gives you a lot more room and area to walk the dog.

Actually yes they can cause an allergy attack by walking the dog around in the stroller. Say they take it to the Campfire and my child is there and we do not see them behind us with the dog in the doggie stroller and my child starts wheezing and can not breathe? Then what? We end up in the Er just so their dog could go to the campfire against the rules?

Calm down there, big fella.
Actually, my comment was directed more at Auntie's post which implied that it might be okay if the dog was in a stroller.

honestly, i would be afraid to take a child ANYWHERE that is this sensitive and afflicted with allergies. I'm not being sarcastic or anything, i am being serious, it must be very hard to go to different places, especially campgrounds..where pets are as welcome as children. What about service animals in the parks? You could easily come in contact with them as well.
I am always surprised that i see dogs outside the parks alot lately. One time, i saw a sheltie outside the wilderness lodge, on a leash, just walking around the landscaping and i was surprised that no one said anything.

NO one needs to get upset about my 4# chihuahua, our doggie stroller or anything. We got the message after the first response, and we of course have every intention of abiding to whatever rules there are in regards to dogs.

As Kahuna stated, I asked a simple question to which I honestly did not know the answer. And the first poster even thanked me for asking instead of assuming. I never had any intention of breaking much less bending rules.

Peace y'all,
Winnie and Paco (the spoiled chihuahua)

PS:

Auntie,
I got my doggie stroller on e-bay for $35 plus shipping. It is enclosed with the front screen.

Winnie

Was just kind of thinking out loud with that one..(or on the key board)...didn't mean to imply it was permitted. Simply mentioned what I saw a couple of weeks ago. I think I did mention rules are rules. We have a dog..and I wouldn't walk it to common areas if it wasn't permitted.

Wow...that's a VERY good price..I've seen them for over $100.00 in the pet store! Thanks for the info.;)

Actually yes, I do think my pup is special. But not special enough to break rules and have a bunch of people ticked off at me...LOL!!:rolleyes1

Seriously though, we take him lots of places with us, so I only asked because he loves being with us and going "bye bye". And he does love riding in his stroller.

I was quite sincere in asking my question and did not intend to cause such a fuss.

Blessings,
Winnie
