So DS has decided that it's cheaper for him to fly to the states via london...

i don't know if that's true, but i'm sure people on this board know where i can look online for bargains on flights from london to orlando...he's only interested in scheduled flights (not charters)...

i know this question has been asked a zillion times, but i've always ignored the threads, since i prefer to fly non-stop to the states (not via the UK)...
but DS today said that he thinks it would be cheaper for them to fly via london....so....help please....

is expedia my best bet? or is there a better website?

Heathrow offers all the major US carriers to Orlando but indirect. If you are already connecting to Heathrow that makes another stop which might be 1 too many. However if you grab a flight the day it comes out (generally 1 year minus a month) before the time then it can be considerably cheaper than any direct flights (these are mainly Gatwick, Virgin, BA). Another advantage of connecting somewhere in the US before heading down to Orlando (we are going via Detroit) is that you clear immigration and customs there first and although we have a 2 hour 20 min stop over when we get to Orlando we are treated as a domestic flight and you walk off the plane pick your luggage up and go. We have been at immigration and customs in Orlando before for a good hour.
You can fly from LHR via Ireland (Aer Lingus) or Holland (KLM) 'direct' to Orlando but you will still have to do the immigration bit in Orlando.
I use skyscanner.net to find the best deal and then book with the website direct.

KLM does not do direct flights to Orlando. Haven't done so for many years. Only airline that does that from AMS is Martinair, a charter type airline with scheduled flights. Be ware though, Martinair is known for it's 'tempermentfull' scheduling. For the AMS-MCO route, they're known to change schedules, cancelling flights, rerouting folks etc. Heck, they've even stopped doing the direct flight mid season, only to have the direct route added to their itinerary a year later again.
