The people/person who concocted this will never be a fraction of the worth of the people who truly felt sorrow for them. So no matter how much you feel you had a sick, twisted laugh at the expense of their emotions, you are nothing more than losers.

LLs, don't even waste the emotions of hate and anger on them. You have already wasted your emotions of sorrow and pain. They don't deserve any more.

Lou has some GREAT words here. I hope all of you who considered them friends will read them, and try to take them to heart. (nicely said Lou)

People can be so disappointing. I still want to believe that most people are good and honest and would never stoop so low. It's one thing to come here and argue with someone or to be disgusted by someone's silly actions but this act of pretending to be dead is just the lowest thing.

If they lied about the deaths who is to say they didn't lie about having a wife and children? Maybe the children don't even exist except in the person's warped mind.

I doubt seriously there are children - who knows who this person is. Sick, is what they obviously are, and heartless but other than that, we don't know.

I remember reading this from her dh and I also remember how he said he held the hand of his one dd while she died! OMG, I was a wreck reading that and just cried like crazy! Then to find out he made the whole thing up!?

After having time to digest this whole thing, I seriously doubt there are even any children at all. Who knows if there was even a husband and wife or if they were both the same person? Who knows what was true and what wasn't? I seriously hope there are no children for their sake! It takes a really deranged person to fake a death...whether it be IRL or via Internet!!!

My thoughts exactly. and I sincerely want to say that I feel bad for any of you that "knew" the person and were grieving over the 'death." What that person has done to your emotions is absolutely cruel. And to the OP, , I can't imagine the range of emotions that you are feeling.

I knew a woman who made up a story about her six year old daughter having an incurable, eventually fatal disease. She even brought the child to my son's wedding in a wheel chair. There was nothing at all wrong with the little girl, Thank God. This woman worked for our company. She embezzled a lot of money from us and caused sooo much pain and life changing problems for us. She is now out of prison and I wonder what lies she is telling to people who trust her now. I also wonder if people who tell lies like these don't fear a higher power might make some of their lies come true.

From what has come out so far, there are indeed children involved in this -- children that are very much alive, and hopefully well.

These are extremeley sick individuals who, I'm sure, are revelling in the attention they're getting now.

We have been affected terribly by this..... There ARE children and there most definitely is a Chris and Lea. We have much personal information on these people, even know where they live.

I have no idea why or how they could have done this.....not just to the good people on the DIS but to their "friends".....UGH!

Pray for those kids guys, they are gonna need it.

I was thinking the same thing and really wonder if the children even exist, especially the twins. Wouldn't be a bit surprised if that was a lie made for some stupid reason. People who lie about one thing most certainly are likely to lie about something else, especially a big lie like this.

And most people are good and honest. I think that *most* of use present ourselves reasonably accurately on the internet. Especially concerning the big things. Maybe some people leave off details (some don't go into detail about the ages of their kids, etc, for what are safety issues to them, etc), but I don't think that most people totally fabricate things, either. Besides the fact that it is out of character for me to do so, I wouldn't be able to keep my stories straight if I wanted spin stories.

But then these sick people won, in their own convoluted way. I have the opposite reaction--I'm going to look for the good in the majority of posters and know that most people are who they present themselves as being. I'm not stupid and would never send $ to a poster, etc, but I'm taking things on face value. I'd rather be made a fool of and still "feel" than to become too jaded.

All this is a reflection on the the fiber of Deafmedic and her husband, not on us for buying into it.

You know, even THAT doesn't mean much. Another board I've been a member of for 5+ years had a situation where a girl created a complete personality and life for herself. People exchanged with her, called her, sent her "child" gifts, she sent them Christmas cards and called them and sent their children gifts, she posted photos of her life, wedding, home, created MUCH accessible "personal information," people even MET her. And NONE of it was true. I lost faith in internet personas then...

She was banned from the community, which is a PAY and private community!!!, but of course, managed to come back reincarnated as someone new. PAID to continue playing the game. After some more outrageous stories and analyzing posting style, she was outed again.

I'm absolutely devastated for anyone who was involved in this outpouring of grief here... I'm SO sorry this happened. But it does not surprise me. Some people are screwed up.

If they truly are who they say they are, I hope the children and Deafmedic herself are OK from now on... I just will be that much more skeptical the next time I read a story like this one. Sad.

I know there must be a lot of anger and hurt right now but what this Chris and Lea need is help and prayers. To make up such a story and included 2 of your children in the mix while leaving (picking) 2 of your children to live is scary, sad and SICK. These people need help whether they thought this was some sort of fun joke to play on people's emotions or because they wanted attention. I hope they get the help they desperately need. I just can't imagine what they were thinking when they concocted such an elaborate story!!
