? Regarding DCL on board communication through app

We will be on our first DCL cruise next month and I know you can use the DCL app to communicate with others. My question is regarding the fact that I haven't been able to find out how exactly this works and most things, including DCL's FAQ, only reference downloading the app.

I have the DCL online account, but will my wife need to download the app and create her own account? Or can she just download the app and not log into any specific account? Or can she just log in with my account on her device (while I'm also logged into the same account)? What about children? I've been unable to determine if logging into an account is necessary to use the app and chat function. It seems crazy to me that every adult and child would need a separate long in ID and password, but what do I know. Thanks for the responses

You just need the app. From there it will ask for your name and maybe room number? I’m not entirely sure what it asks for but I know you don’t each need an account.

To use the app for the first time once onboard, each person will need to enter a name and a room number, and maybe a birth date. There is no password required. To communicate with people in your room, you just need to select their name. To message people in another room for the first time, you will need a 5- or 6-digit number (visible in their app) to add them to your list of names.

Using the paid WiFi plan does require a password, but that is not necessary in order to use the app to see information and send text messages.

Thanks for the responses. That makes more sense as it seemed ridiculous to have everyone with a separate account and log in. I just couldn't find the clarifying info anywhere. I was going to have my wife create an account before we left if needed, but glad to hear she just needs the app.
